Turri Road is a fun run, have taken it a number of times between SLO and Morro Bay, more fun than the Hwy 1 segment betwen SLO and Morro Bay. Just watch out for the bikes and hikers. It's much more fun in the Boxster than it was in K5 blazer

This is Turri Road basically:

very real he was beating up the airfield. perspective plays on the eye in that shot though he was still VERY low!

That's an RC

I've done a lot of work on the Corsair and and see hundreds of fly by of all kinds. The scale is all wrong, the Corsair is a large aircraft. The plane is well in front of the hanger so that would put him at least right in front of the crowd at low altitude. That puts the cars and airplane in the same perspective, and that perspective doesn't add up. The crowd is not even looking at it. My guess its a RC about ten feet in front the the camera and about 75 yards in front of the crowd.

Sorry. You're wrong.... I wondered the same thing you did at first...

The plane is in front of the hangar (obviously), and it's a large airplane, but it is beyond the crowd. The people are looking right at the plane (obviously).

The Corsair is between the people and the hangar, which is close to 50 feet at the ridge, it's huge. That's what threw me at first.

There is a large distance between the hangar and the people.

Because of the composition, I first wondered the same thing you are postulating.

(I think you're assuming that because the poster has a 'well-sorted 944' that he's full of it.)

+1

Pics were taken at Hobsonville runway, RNZAF Base Auckland, New Zealand. It was a while ago now so I'm not sure if the plane was restored in NZ or was just prepared for overseas delivery but iirc it was definitely being sent offshore. The hangar it is in is the old 3 Sqn hangar that is now a boat builders building -36.790118, 174.664988. The building behind the corsair in that shot is also a boatbuilders -36.789955, 174.668937 which makes super yachts.

The reason it looks Photoshopped into the shot or like it's an R/C plane is because everything else in the frame is in sort of a fuzzy "omnifocus," while it looks much sharper... which makes one think it's in focus because it's in the foreground.

I have no doubt that it's the real deal, however... if you took the shot, we should take your word for it.

There is definitely room for it to be in that position because that hangar in the background is obviously VERY large... and distant. Just look at where the rear wheels of that minivan are. It's at least 1/8th mile to that hangar.

One more thing since you've included these other shots, though; the Corsair in the contested photo doesn't look like it has the lighter paint on it's belly (based on the fact that the lighter color can't be seen on the lower/leading edge of the nacelle). Might be in shadow, but the plane looks like it's solid blue all over.

If you watch the video clip it looks like the same dive as in the photo.
Nice plane.

There is no doubt that was the same aircraft, he was doing a diving perpenduclar to the runway turning pass over a crowd and buildings, getting about 4 meters off the ground, The FAA would have had a cow!
