Nice hibiscus.

Thanks Steve- that's my fav. Hibiscus.....the "Painted Lady"!

They are sometimes available as a standard (tree form) and I use those quite a bit on my projects to elevate the personality of the design.....

Nice shot, I think you could have bumped from 1/500 up to 1/250 and maybe opened the aperture up a bit.

each a slightly different in camera imaging setup.

no photoshop of colors/contrast.

The moon's mean radius is 1,079.6 miles (1,737.5 kilometers).
Double those figures to get its diameter: 2,159.2 miles (3,475 km).
The moon's equatorial circumference is 6,783.5 miles (10,917 km).

imagine the impact of some of those blast radius's and lava fields.

moon pics

you see how the moon's surface is shown in relief right at the edge: lower right in these pics

i often thought it would be cool to take dozens of pics and cut and past the small "relief" region into one composite image!

I'm playing around with a track layout too.

Marklin HO C-track.

Using SCARM freeware track planning software.

These layouts look fantastic!! Years ago I spent a ridiculous amount of money and time on an HO layout. Mine was 8'x12' with an open center area for my son to sit and drive!! We had a great time with it!! I really learned a lot about myself...mainly that I have a serious OCD problem that my wife was quick to point out!!
A couple of mistakes I made at the time, that come to mind are; Don't have more than a 1.5% grade for your trains will not climb any more than this and also long tunnels are really cool until you have a problem inside of one.....then you find yourself with a sawzall and a big mess on your hands!!!
Enjoy!

Agree.
I'm trying to get the layout on 4x9 sheet of siding but may have to go to 4x10. One of the things about track planning software is it will display the grade after you select the length of track you wish to elevate. You select the track between the starting grade and ending grade, then the end point and adjust the height, it displays the grade in green, yellow or red. The right loop that elevates to the overpass is currently a 3.8% (yellow). Kinda steep and I will have to rework it. The tunnel issue can be resolved by leaving the end of the layout open for access.

Marklin HO stuff costs an arm and a leg (http://www.maerklin.com/en/index.html) but they have been building model trains for more than 100 years. Fine German engineering I might add. This one was built in 1960. All metal analog that I just finished restoring.

Note to self, never rely on an old battery when riding in 30 degree weather.

I did it on mine once and with the shaft drive and I wasn't quite expecting it, damn near threw me off the back.

No kick start on a '76. Just electric. Hell even push starting wouldn't get it going!

Wow, there are others here afflicted with the model railroad disease. I do most of my modeling in N scale. It is modular so I can haul it outside to take photos.

Saw this over the Christmas break at Pima Air Museum in Tucson. Interesting story on the shoot-down of an American C47.

Nice, the last one looks like it's got the best white balance unless the moon was really low in the sky. It looks like you got the focus right on. It's unfortunate, the full moon is an appealing subject, but it's really not as interesting as a quarter or partial moon. Because it's so illuminated, you lose some detail on most of the face. When the moon is partial, the shadows like you see at the edge of the full moon are more prominent and make the photo more interesting.

These have had the contrast and sharpness tweaked a bit.

Not that it really makes much difference, but this one was taken from the top deck of a boat on the Amazon river.
