G'day!
|
I bought this little caddy today. Wasn't sure what i would use it for - just knew something like this would come in handy.
Got home and went to spray paint one of my Cabbage Palm Tiki's and right away the new caddy found a purpose.... I'm not diggin' the paint job so will do over again. At this point just experimenting.....

We went to lovely Jetty Isle today, free big arse boat ride thanks to the Everett Parks department and the Port of Everwett.
![]() Jetty Island started out as a Riprap isle to help direct the mighty Snohomish river over 100 years ago (Nobody liked Rap back then). More dredging's been done and added to it over the decades and it's now 2 miles long. Barges were sunk in the mid 40's to help define and direct the flow as well. Kinda like this ![]() Since there was a minus 1.5' tide today at 9am we were on the first big arse boat at 10am. My loving wife and I were about the first off, across the isle we went and turned North toward the 70+ year old barge bits. It looked like this when she stepped in front of me, we had left all the other passengers in our dust (sand and muck really). Had the place to ourselves ![]() Andy! I found your float, left it here ![]() Barges ![]()

Osprey babies sharing tidbits from Ma and Pa
![]() The strangest motor I've every seen on a boat, a duck boat... must be a duck boat motor... it did not seem to want to go out of gear as the captain of zee duck boat rammed it into the dock. Maybe that's how duck boats work, I'm no expert. ![]() Big arse boat that took us to and fro (Behind my wife, her's is really perfectly sized) ![]() Mid week adventures are fantastic! This place is less than a half hour away, free, 3 miles total of beautiful beach walking all in a 3 hour getaway. I'm getting good at this retirement thing.

Whilst we were in the Mt St Helens neighborhood we did a few hikes and stuff...
Went ape in a cave "Ape caves" are lava tubes, the longest continuous tubes in the contiguous US in fact, there's the easy half and the rough half... I opted for the rough half. You get to climb piles of boulders/slabs that fell off the ceiling. (Only left a little bit of my right shin hide behind). 2.5 miles long and about 2000 years old. ![]() ![]() Saw a 1972 Pontiac that was 8.5 miles from the eruption- 300 MPH wind and debris made this one a challenge to buff out. ![]()

Also walked across a springy suspension bridge
![]() Wandered up about 300 steps at Windy ridge to an amazing view of Spirit lake (now 200' higher than before and not as deep). The tsunami wave pushed water and trees 800' + up the surrounding mountain sides and then scoured everything off down to bedrock. ![]() We also had great views of a couple other nearby volcanoes, Adams and the majestic Mt Rainier

Great pictures Skip.
I was out there when St. Helens blew. Didn't see the eruption but i remember all the other truckers were putting pantyhose over their air filters to keep the ash dust out. I didn't go the pantyhose route as that ash was so fine i didn't think it would amount to much. I've got a bunch of pictures but they're all slides.

Great shot^!!!
The eruption destroyed an amazing amount of territory, it also created some new features- Coldwater lake, 5 miles long and up to 180' deep. The eruption plugged up the former river's outlet and a new lake was born ![]() When the eruption happened I was 150 miles away half asleep on a queen size water bed... I felt a thump through the waterbed and thought what in the world would make a 1500 lb waterbed jump? Turned on the TV a bit later and found out, I could see the plume clearly from home.
