From Leo Carrillo State Beach. There is supposed to be some cave/grotto there, but we have yet to be able to find it! Seems it's being kept a secret.

Thank you! I use a Nikon D800e, 16mm-35mm lens. Aperture wide open, ISO from 1600-3200 - shutter is open anywhere from 15 seconds to 30. I shoot RAW and edit later. Tripod is a must as is a cable release (Thingy to trigger the shutter without touching the camera). Clear skies, hopefully a "new" moon that is well below the horizon. Get away from the big city! Light pollution is a killer. Patience and hopefully a good nap - you might be staying up very late.

Oh, scouting locations in advance, depending on terrain is a good idea assuming there is little data on the area and you don't to die falling off a cliff... We use white flashlights for getting to the location red once there (does not ruin night vision). Be safe, know your surroundings!

You guys all post such beautiful pictures, I really like those trout and stream pictures with the mountains in the background - in Montana I believe?

These pictures are of the area between my old neighborhood and my grandmother's old house. This thread just needs a little Motown flavor to spice it up.

The old Dix Ave. bridge which goes over the Rouge River...................still in working order

They still put the water hose out to help control the expanding metal grate in the summer months. You can see the once upon a time world's largest industrial complex, the Ford Rouge Plant in the background.

Crappy cell phone pictures, I tried to lighten it.

Considered one of Metro Detroit's most famous icons from the past, still afloat, the St. Claire one of the last surviving Boblo Island boats - there were two. This one sits right off the bridge on grandmother's side of the river.

A few more urban character pictures from the area.

A nearby junkyard.

Another yard, posted this same car several years ago, actually in city of Melvindale less than a mile away from the bridge.

And a couple more miles away on the other side of the river near Patton Park (Det), a neighborhood party store still manages to survive.

Home sweet home.

Thanks. Yes, as a mater of fact. And, they stopped and picked us up. Nine stinky back packers who had been hiking the Continental Divide trail for nine days. We had to ride in the open air vestibules between cars so as not to offend the regular tourists.

My oldest brother's birthday is on the 12th and I bought a birthday card for him today. I was looking for a photo tonight to include with the card and found this one I took of him and my Mom back in '05 when we were visiting the cemetery in Virginia where our Dad is buried.

My brother is very sentimental and I know this pic will mean a lot to him. The card is from Hallmark from their Superman/DC Comics series. He is a super hero to me and needs to know it.
