The same day Higgens was up highway 20 East, I was just off 20 a bit West and North of Concrete- Lake Shannon.
I gotta go back with a boat- kayak, canoe or my old trusty Lund! I'd hoped to get close to Devil's tower, an early 1900's structure that's been a local favorite for hanging out on, photographs and graffiti. One used to be able to park pretty close and walk around the gate and keep out signs up until a couple years ago. Now the road is closed a good couple miles away with serious signs and "active construction signs". The lake was down a good 15-20' so I tried walking the exposed shore line to get a gimps, no luck. The shore line was either frozen or sticky sticky mud that sticks to yer boots and it's suddenly WAY slippery. Plus there were some stream crossings that would be a challenge. Decided against risking a fall in the goo/ice/rocks. I'll be back! Lower Baker Dam impounds Lake Shannon (Hydro power), upper Baker dam (more hydro power) holds Baker lake in place. I let it hover and told them I'll land it if it bothers you at all, they said no, don't it's cool! Alrighty then! |

Unfortunately we still live in the lunacy of CA and in what they call “A high risk fire area”. Homeowners, liability, fire mitigation insurance” or whatever they call it….. is hard to get and insanely overpriced. Believe me when I say, the moment they twitch and threaten cancelling us at our grandfathered low rate, they can expect to lose every policy we have with them. It’s sizable and makes me roll my eyes every time I give it any thought. So a short answer……”cheap homeowners insurance” currently. Of course, it’s all subject to change.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c2f49a275a.jpg BTW: your random pic looks like it could be used as a beginning to a good joke….. jus sayn[emoji1]j |
