This fire had just gotten started on June 13th, we drove past it in crazy winds on our way over Washington Pass, emergency services were just getting on scene.
We could see some neighbors there and what we thought was the family. News confirmed 6 people got out, one dog did not :( Wind storm blew down a branch taking out an electrical line causing the fire that burned the entire back side of the home. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg What a nightmare, not a great start to our 2 night getaway... And now for something completely different http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg A year ago I bought and fitted a set of Vredesteins on my 72, it seemed to wander a lot and way way too rolly polly in the corners- Me no like. Bought and fitted a set of Michelin Primacy 3's... OH YES, my sports car is back! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg Looks nice enough, maybe he enjoys his career- http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719100714.jpg |
Good weather forecast, mid week, a boat that needs watering and a new GoPro 12 to fiddle with.
Baker lake overnight it is! Shocked to see only one truck and trailer in the parking area- not sure where everybody is, but that's good with me! Launched and motored across the lake to free first come first serve campsites. Most of the camping areas accessible by car are on the west side of the lake, east side is hike in or boat in only and has the superior views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan... that's an easy choice! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg You were warned http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg Alpenglow went on and on, sunsets after 9 pm this time of year- its addictive! After it finally got truly dark I heard owls hooting to each other from opposite sides of the lake, saw bats out eating up the mosquitos and heard loons call now and then. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg I'm very pleased and impressed with the "star tracking video and images the GP12 can capture. Huge jump forward from my GP6. It's also got a "time warp" setting that's very smooth and resulted in some good lake traversing videos. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg Breakfast with a view http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719415667.jpg |

Changed back up and T/S bulbs to LEDs. Way, way brighter!
You can see the difference in the B/U lights… http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719760264.jpg Turn signals… http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719760660.jpg Both B/U lights… http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1719760771.jpg |
Had to replace grill. Added the new style Weber flat top insert. It’s much smoother than the old blackstone I just tossed.

^^
Wow! Now I'm hungry for breakfast- again. I covered half of my Weber grill with a GrillGrate, flat side up. I use the flat side for almost most everything. I has holes in it that lets some of the fat drip through and smoke things up. I think that adds flavor. |

Getting ready to sell an old Contax G2 rangefinder film camera. I had it checked out at a shop and they recommended posting some sample photos from it, so I walked around and shot a roll, which came back to me as scanned images. There's a quality to film images that is is hard to capture with digital cameras, although some digitals have sensors or modes that emulate film. Nothing artsy, just trying to demonstrate that the auto focus and exposure are working properly. The Taycan should have been shot 1 stop underexposed to compensate for the relatively brightness of the subject.

That is a great view Seahawk!
I'd never get anything done if that was my office view... Leaving tomorrow morning for another Ross Lake adventure, all packed up except for cooler contents. My best buddy, my Son, his best buddy and a newbie are going this time. My Son and his buddy Luke went every year for a decade up until 2021, Luke got married (I officiated his marriage to Julia) right before they moved to Baltimore for her Residency training. He's flying in, Aaron's flying up from Pasadena and the newbie is my buddy Steve's Great nephew from Alaska. We won't be camping this year (usually 3 nights) just staying a couple nights in the floating cabins- that's OK, a whole lot less gear to wrangle and prepare and to move and to clean afterwards. Prior year's captures: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG Ross Lake is about 5 miles and 4'000' below, Desolation Peak is way up the lake and takes at least a half day to bag. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1720108067.jpg |
