2023 lakes, abandoned Lime plant and such

The short days of winter are such a great time to get outside, no crowds and spectacular lighting IMHO

Met my Buddy at a little used trail head on the White horse section of a rails to trails effort that’s resulted in a 30 mile paved option right down hill from me.
This bit has not been improved much nor paved yet.
There are some loose gravel sections that bring my old Specialized mountain bike to a crawl.
Also brought my newest steed- Trek Avant 8S in the large size, I was anxious for SteveO to try it, he hasn’t been on an electric assist bike till now.
He had a big grin every time I looked at him and had no trouble keeping up😀

Thanks!!
Sometimes patience and being provisioned to watch evening light shows turns out very sublime.

I consider myself very lucky to have been moved here by my dad when I was 8.
He got on at the Everett Boeing plant, moved out, worked a year and then flew home, bought a new 1968 Pontiac Catalina station wagon, loaded us and the bird into it and cross country we went.
We zig zagged here stoping and seeing cool stuff like Custers last stand and so on, I got my adventurous side from him 😀

I lived in NE Missouri and Wichita up till then, I remember being completely enamored of mountains on our trip out and I feel the same way over 50 years now.
I could have ended up a flat lander, Egads! 😳

Stopped at a red light, and these bunch of idiots, trying to make a turn, but sticking out in the intersection, are the reason for gridlock.

When the light turned green, I headed for that white SUV and had to go around him to make the left turn. He put his arms up like I was going to hit him.🙄

On the way back, it was the same thing. Stupid ****ers!

I visited the Vietnam memorial wall many years ago while I was in DC, it had a huge impact on me. Our family was lucky, we didn’t loose any relatives or friends to that conflict.

Skagit valley tulips are in full bloom and gorgeous right now, wife and I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary yesterday by walking a few miles of beach just south of Deception Pass, wandering through the tulips and getting dinner in lovely Mt Vernon.

Deception Pass bridge was built in 1934-35 as a CCC project, money and time well spent!
