pic from an old bike trip a while back.... 614's getting a makeover! 614 has been parked in Clifton Forge Va. for at least a decade now. I took that pic about 5 years ago right before covid. Since then, the paint has really degraded in the yt video. It went straight to h@#$.... Ross Rowland sold it and it is being towed to Pa. to be restored. 614 is a 4-8-4 superpower. Although smaller- Strasburg 90 is a mule! 2-10 -0?

I was standing on the back of my tailgate, throwing trash in a dumpster, and didn’t see this raccoon, until he charged at me. He scared the **** out of me.

Father & Son backpacking trip to Shi Shi beach out on the NW Pacific coast.
Not our usual up hill BP trip deep into the Cascades, more dirt road with plenty of giant mud filled pot holes, some big enough to consider boating across.

Once you near the ocean you have a steep couple 3 switchbacks to get down to the beach. After that you can walk a few miles along a pristine section of sandy beach and either pick a spot on the sand well above high tide to set up a tent or there are a few places where you can enter the forest and camp.

The big draw is Point of the Arches at sunset/sunrise although it's very common for fog to set in overnight obscuring sunrise to some degree.

First time I've been out walking the beach after sunset and watched a couple Sea Otters scurry up into the drift wood for the night.
I've seen them out in kelp beds, and in the water in several places, this was a treat... So was sunset, moon rise, sunrise and getting to spend a couple nights out away from the hubbub of normal life with my Son.

Back on two wheels again, got 2 rear wheel bearings for the sprocket side that were wrong, first one had the wrong ID for the inner race, 2nd had the outer race too small- third one was juuust right 😀

Going to have to go back to the upholstery shop and have the seat cover tightened up near the tank

Brush fire just south of my Sister and BIL’s along I5.
They were sucking water out of a pond that is maybe 150 yards away their home and dousing it.
Neighborhood access to the pond gave me a front row seat.

Tax dollars being well spent!
Thank you Firefighters!!

If it had got away from them my sisters place would have been at risk

Garage find. Kinda like a barn find. These are all 70s vintage and full, unopened.

Once you get past the “Why drink Coors?” question, the next is “Why store in a garage cabinet?”

What does skunky Coors even taste like?? Rhetorical,,,

^^^ Brings back memories of the 70s/80s when we'd sneak Coors back to Michigan from Colorado ski trips. It wasn't sold in the east back then so if you had some, it was the beer to have!
