Got a new toy with great autofocus....terrible background but at least proof of concept that I'm gonna get some great shots this fall.

Z8 along with the 24-120 S and the 50 1.8.
Insane money for a camera but I've been getting a little frustrated with a couple things on my Fuji and ready for a no excuses tool. |
Nice setup to say the least  Have you looked into a dot sight? I'm considering one for both birds and certain situations at the track.

Omg I didn’t even know that existed! I know for sure when that flock jumped all of a sudden it was panic on my end. Trying to figure if you shoot that from the back screen or viewfinder. Race track I think should be much easier as you see the cars coming and can set up.
Looking at the 180-600 or 400 4.5 for birds and track and boats. What’s your opinion on a long prime for track? Is it too restrictive? |
Curt is much more experienced and I realize the question was directed to him, but I've found a fixed prime is best if you are capturing action at a specific point on the track over and over.
For me a variable zoom is just much more useful in most situations and let's me capture what I'm after with minimal cropping and loss of quality. I've been known to crop away happily though too. When they were kids and we went out West, every two years, they called the above "Pioneer RV's". Not bright kids. From the Potomac: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759603350.jpg |
This is 'Sue', the largest and most complete T-Rex skeleton ever found. It was discovered in South Dakota by fossil collector Sue Hendrickson for which it's named. It is currently on exhibit at Chicago's Field Museum.

Great weather, full moon, a lake that’s being drawn down in preparation for spring run off and a sleeping volcano all add up to an overnight camping trip for a mental recharge.
