Back from a week in Pasadena and San Diego visiting our son, his girlfriend, the grand dogs and her parents.
We thought about extending our stay to see the Rose Parade, glad we didn’t because it looks like it’s going to be a soggy mess.

Skip you are living the good life man. Congrats to you and your family for appearing to have it figured out!

Thanks, I appreciate that!!

I'm very aware how crazy lucky I am in soooo many ways!

Not that I haven't been through tough times, there's been some very rough years but I've always managed to keep an upbeat attitude overall.
When I hired on at the Boeing co at 18 my mom's advise to invest in the 401K, diversify a bit and don't touch it till you retire I followed and wow it's been amazing!!

Luckily too. I've only been married once and my wife is even more frugal than I am.
We are now beginning to splurge and stay in MUCH nicer places than when I was working. Gotta admit, I like being spoiled!

I still get deep satisfaction from clambering or Kayaking to remote spots and sleeping in a tent. Watching a sunset and sunrise on a mountain lake is just as great as an oceanfront condo watching the same sequence transpire over the ocean.

Making my morning cup-A-joe just takes a bit more effort in a campsite
