Am I the only one that kind of feels sorry for Tigh? He's so easy to dislike. And yet...

His poor life is pitiful. It's like we're seeing the sum of every one of his bad decisions come to fruition at once.

Frankly, I'm amazed that some stupid SciFi show could bring that kind of "emotion" from me.

>Also interesting how his (Tigh's) wife managed to make a fool out of him AGAIN - elegantly convincing him to let the press see the president. She's gotta be a cylon...

Can't be.. Cylons only design "pretty" female units ;-)

She's way too annoying to be anything other than human! ;-)

legion 08-08-2005 07:57 AM

No talk on this week's episode?

My thoughts, it seems that Tigh's wife is to Tigh what Number Six is to Baltar... Tigh started out making good, sound decisions, but the more he listened to his wife, the worse things got.

I couldn't help but notice the shooting of Sharon bears direct resemblance to JFK/Lee Harvey Oswald/Jack Ruby.

Why the heck is Adama's son following the president? It makes no sense.

Z-man 08-14-2005 09:56 AM

Last Friday's episode rocked! That was frackin' fantastic! Seems the show keeps getting better and better!

My thoughts:

- Adama crying over Shannon -- why? Was he saddened by the knowledge that she was indeed a cylon? Did he have a thing for her? Was he just sad and overwhelmed with the whole position he's been thurst into? (I think he had a thing for Shannon)

- Starbuck - talk about being in the lair of the enemy! Looks like the cylons farmed some of her eggs - but what's the second scar about? (Cylon tracking device maybe?) I bet she's pregnant - but who is the father? That 'Anders' guy, or is she carrying a Cylon/Human hybrid?

- Will the cassette tape that Apollo started (where he denounced his father) fall into the wrong hands? (Like the original Apollo, Richard Hatch?)

- It's going to be interested to see how the arrow of apollo is going to determine the location or direction of earth. Gives the show an archeological stant, in an Indiana Jones sorta way.

- I am starting to wonder if Madam President is a cylon. Remember one of the earlier episodes where the cylon in the weapons ship was sick? Perhaps that's what she's suffereing from.... Doubtful, but a possibility: after all, Number Six keeps referring a human/cylon baby being a savior, and Ms. Pres. is the reluctant savior as well... could they be the same savior?!?

Lookin forward to next Friday's episode!

I just watched it. Hmmmm. Starbuck is pregnant...hmmmm, and in the preview, we know that they make it to Kobal. This is going to get very interesting.

President a Cylon? I don't think so. She has cancer, but then, who knows if Cylons can get cancer.

What would be really weird? Earth turns out to be the cylon homeworld...

Those previews give way too much information. And, the TiVo description gives too much information on the upcoming episodes. We really have to be careful not to spoil anything.

I didn't expect that the next Cylon "outing" would be an outsider (i.e. the doctor on Caprica). I was sure it was going to be Starbuck or someone else we would never suspect.

Oh well, shows what I know. :)

The minute they showed Starbuck in that hospital with that doctor, I knew it was a cylon camp. Too easly. I think Starbuck knew as well, even before she saw the blonde #6.

I bet we are going to see another example of the doctor on Caprica show up in the fleet - perhaps he'll be an aide to the president.

Yeah, I know - but it seems too conicidental that the humans are calling her a savior, and Number 6 is also speaking of a savior.

The show definately makes you think.

PS: I'm thinking of starting rumors that Wayne is a cylon...

Thanks to this thread, I too am hooked. Just finished watching a re-run of last weeks show on sci-fi. I see in the program guide that the The scattering airs tomorrow at 4:00 Pt and continues with all 5 episodes thru 8:00. Cool:)

If Wayne was a toaster, he'd be better looking...;)

I find 'toaster' to be racist...

red-beard 08-16-2005 05:22 AM

I didn't know that machines had races? Unless they have bearings....

That's what Number six barked at Boltar when he used that expression!

No comments on last week's episode?

My wife got me the season 1 set on DVD for my birthday.

Some friends went to GenCon in Indianapolis over the weekend (big RPG convention--not my thing). Apparently Tricia Helfer (Number 6) was there signing autographs. My friend said that she had a line of what he guessed to be 100 people. The other 8 people there signing autographs had no lines whatsoever.

Actually, I think the whole Friday night line up on Sci-fi is really good escapism.

SG1 has taken a completely different tack. It is almost like an entirely different series...not saying it is better or worse...the previous seasons were a bit less serious, but I am enjoying it just the same.

SG Atlantis on the other hand is a bit more like SG1 was previously...which is good.

BSG is just good drama...but I have to wonder how long can they keep it up? And how many times can they find a way to work a NEW Boomer into the plot? The big story arc of trying to find Earth is likely to get old after a while, just like it did in the original show.

legion 08-23-2005 07:21 AM

The new Boomer seems to know a lot about how to find Earth. Could that mean that the Cylons have already found it? The show could shift from finding Earth to taking it back.

That would be an interesting twist.

Also: once they find earth (I hope they do) what era will it be? Will earth be still in the middle ages? Earlier? Later????

It seems that every week the trailers for the next week's show leave me uncomfortable - like this time it appears that Boomer #2 wants to dust Adama and Apollo. Is this her true intention? Or is she trying to fool the original Apollo's co-hort and setting him up for a double-cross? It would be interesting to see Boomer #2 shooting Adama again. Kinda like a Deja Vu. :)

Still wonder what's up with that second scar on Starbuck's abdomen/waist/leg...

1967 R50/2 08-23-2005 07:38 AM

The cylons seem strangely religious for androids. That is a unique innovation. I can't think of any other piece of fiction which has depicts robots with a spiritual side.

They seem to know the "religion" of the show as well, if not better than the human characters...however I do not think they know where Earth is.

Interestingly, there appears to be hints in the story line of a "rift" between the humanoid cylons and the toasters. It would seem that the HCs are intent on becoming as human as possible and even interbreeding with humans while the Toasters are just bent on human extermination.

I've picked up on that too. I think it's pretty interesting that each side has it's own "camps". In the original series, the Cylons were pretty monolithic.

1967 R50/2 08-27-2005 01:43 PM

This show continues to intrigue....although this week's episode was somewhat predictable.

Interesting bits:

1. Cyclons are monotheists and humans are polytheists. They hinted at that in previous episodes...but still the cylons seem to know quite a bit about the religion of the humans even though they protest it as a "false" religion. Obviously the writers are ripping a few items from the headlines.

2. The actor that plays Baltar plays a great wacko. His interactions wit the doctor were very amusing.

3. What I think makes the show interesting is the whole plotline hints at a vast back-story history, which is only gradually being filled in.

That's it. Just some observations.

This has all happened before, it will happen again.
