I bought an awful version of this a year or 2 ago. It read like VCR instructions. Can anyone recommend a good author?

yeah , let's bring back the nukes cause you can't win the war you started because you went after nukes(and other wmd's), but couldn't find em.

i'm sure that will piss off the towelheads even more, and in case you forgot, the towelheads are all around you , what do you suggest? nuking certain parts of cities in the USA? because they have a high towelhead concentration???

the reason why you can't win the war is because

A you can't see the enemy a towelhead looks just like any other middle eastern civilian

( VC just looked like a farmer during the day rings a bell?)

B with every offensive action you take against the enemy, he grows stronger, it's that simple
he does not even have to invest anything to recrute, in fact the fanatics will suddenly appear out of the normal muslem population allready present within your borders

with every action he takes, recruting and support fades a little bit more at home

(Where have we seen this before?)

C the enemy is willing to take a lot more losses than you guys are
and needs less to operate
(i'm sure i've heard of a similar thing in some book )

D he'll fight dirtier than anything you can throw at him
(...)

We do much more destruction with conventional weapons than we would do if we used only a few low yield nuclear devices.

Raghead not towelhead.

Iraqis/syrians/Iranians don't look the same as the others when they have a gun pointed at you.

Enemies growing stronger after being attacked is silly and a product of movies. As long as you don't attack someone's values, you can change popular opinion which is why your country isn't ruled by the Nazi's. (even though we attacked them with just about everything we had)

They will take losses and they do fight dirty because they don't have much else to lose primarily because their leaders took everything from them already. Secular muslim societies can and do work very well.

This is not vietnam. Vietnam could have been decisive and won 7-8 years early if we would have unleashed the fury. The North Vietnamese came to the tables after every B-52 bombing campaign that was unleashed.

The largest difference here is that we have really lost sight of who was against us here. Many of our so called allies subverted the economic sanctions that could have had massive effects on Hussein and Iraq. They brought this war as much as he did. But hey, we gave Anan the by and we'll let them slide as well.

well , if enemies aren't growing stronger, then why the hell have we been seeing terrorist action here in holland , where previously the imports basically kept themself busy with normal , money making ( drugs, thieving, robberies )

how come suddenly 2 crews on 2 days had some fun in the subway in the UK?
Madrid?

i mean , blowing yourself up or assasinating somebody in plain view(and life sentence ) isn't really something you do for a hobby now is it? it's not a good livelyhood.

before 9/11 and our stupid european gouvernements tagging along singing and dancing towards iraq , we never had any raghead incidents...
we had irish , spanish , and other splinter groups , but no ragheads.

oh , and lest i forget, this terrorisme is nothing new
why are they pissed off again?
USA : sponsoring the Iran/Iraq thing on both sides
Mudjahedin ( and then flipping them the bird afterwards)
Lebanon? Israel? Egypt? and there's more like that

i can remember islamic terrorisme on us planes and boats since forever
if the US has been such a fair and square member state on this planet , then how come so many people are pissed off in the first place???

dirty business, the US has done a lot of it, it's not because bush suddenly invented the words "freedom" and "resolve" and "liberating" in his speeches, that all the tricks from the past are forgiven and forgotten, he and his daddy are probably cracking jokes over all the **** senior pulled back when he was in hte CIA, and how Junior suddenly spoofs the whole thing with his little charade.

the common thread is their religion/culture which allows the rich "ragheads" to own all the desirable women, leaving the poor "ragheads" with absolutely no hope of a decent future. Just 50-something virgins in the "afterlife' if they do some Kill'n, while disposing of themselves.

Yes, I know; that is not part of your cliche understanding, therefore has no merit.

It' so much easier to believe the raghead rhetoric.

Since we're comparing Iraq to Vietnam...

- Iraq does not have a large standing organized conventional army which is supported by the populace. Does anyone remember the VC?

- China is NOT pouring massive amount of arms and money into Iraq, like they did in Vietnam.

- Russia is NOT pouring massive amount of arms and money into Iraq, like they did in Vietnam.

We are in clean-up mode in Iraq. It's dirty and it ugly... Just like every other clean-up we've done. Didn't it take like 20 years to clear all the Nazi's in Germany? AND IT WAS WORTH IT.

Because they hate greatness. They are jealous. They hate freedom. Need I continue???

John, you miss my point. I know we're in Iraq and can't leave right now. The issue is the NEXT place. As the Dalai Lama said, "when you lose, don't lose the lesson."

And frankly, I would *love* to see everything sorted. I don't care who the administration is that does it. But more importantly, I'd like whoever is in charge to look beyond their small sphere of influence/understanding before acting. I am not convinced that this happened with Iraq, and I fear it will happen with NK, Iran, SA, take you pick.

The problem with most of Europe is, they have come to the realization that it's not their country anymore...the average frenchman hates the "foreigners "more than they hate us.My german relatives are headed towards "this never would have happened in Hitlers day" and Holland is no different.

this we bailed you guys out in WW2 is getting rather old
it's not so simple as "myyy pappy came over there and rescued your pappy "
untill the Japanese made buddie's with Hitler , and said Japaneze gave you guys a bloody nose in Pearl, the US didn't do nothing for Europe other than giving loans and selling equipment.
That was the thing that worried the US gouvernement " Jerry's beating the Russians, and then joining up with the Jap's to form a truly dynamic duo with some serious manpower, equipment and hard core resolve "

i'll agree, it was a good move for the sake of the US, Europe and the whole world , but it wasn't the 123 here's superman to save the day.
and economically the US did make seriously well with WW2 aftermath,
you had the Brittish on a leash, kept them from developping certain technology , or confiscated the technology ( the UK would have had the first supersonic plane if they weren't ****canned from higher up, and the US wouldn't have gone supersonic so soon if it weren't for the English plan for the single piece stabilizer , to name one thing) and paying of the war dept...
