An Army is a killing machine that's not efficently geared to hugs and kisses with the said country.

Those countries that didn't connect with the info world were adrift and subject to war lords. Nation building is a different dimension than war. The best nation building group could easily be multi nation. If 200,000 or 300,00 nation builders were around to step in after the war machine...............

Yes. That must be it. They are jealous and they hate freedom.

There are many small teams of military advisors in areas of Africa & S.A. that's not shown above. afaik a 4-10 man team is preferred.

Dunno about NZ, and Tazmania (sic) is part of Australia.

US installations at Woomera, Pine Gap and North West Cape.

fwiw.. A big time Cold War CIA field officer in Peru just died. His last name is Belsito. He wrote 3 true experience paperbacks.

He can't say everything, but He's the real deal hero to many flavors of hispanics in Miami.. Among the endless tales is fingering that rebel Chez something in Peru and bailing out tons of Cubans yrs ago. They're all great stories.

Now that I think about it, those installations are satellite steering and monitoring stations.

When someone makes a poster like that, they want people to think we have full up military bases from which to wage war from.

What is it that you think the military does at satellite steering and electronic monitoring stations, I wonder?

Pine Gap, near Alice Springs, employs nearly 1,000 people, mainly from the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office. Originally code-named MERINO, it is the ground station for a satellite network that intercepts telephone, radio, data links, and other communications around the world. The facility currently includes a dozen radomes, a 5,600 square meter computer room, and 20-odd service and support buildings. Two of its ground antenna are part of the U.S. Defense Satellite Communications System.

Send a message via AIM to fintstone
Spent much of the summer in oz..Laverrack Barracks near Townsville was one location...participated in a joint exercize with over 18000 US and Aussie troops. Aussies are great mates and fine soldiers. They looked pretty "full-up to me. Their special ops guys are solid...and a lot like ours....except they talk funny.

Yeah - don't trust that map. AFAIK there are no bases here in NZ.

Actually, I've done a quick search and it appears the US has a base within an airport in Christchurch which is used to fly to and from Antarctica.
