Gosh, how could I have possibly thought that our President was saying that in the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies had prevailed? I feel like a real fool.

Using broad stroke pseudo-patriotic scare tactics to curtail freedom of speech at any time is the greatest injustice this Country could ever suffer. Mul, I really mean this, your statements are traitorous to the ideals on which this Country were founded. Your statements are consistently more along the lines of Brownshirts, read your history, than anything else.

Talk about scare tactics! Imagine anyone twisting another's "free" speech regarding the consequences of ill-advised speech into "tactics to curtail freedom of speech," "subverting the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the very foundation of ths Country." That is really quite simple. As you well know, when the statement was made...the only "battle of Iraq" was with the government of Iraq. The government of Iraq was soundly defeated, its leadership has been removed and jailed, and a new democratic government is in its place. Iraq is now our ally and we both fight an entirely different foe.

Sounds like you and "Rummy" made the same mistake, failing to see that the real battle was not with Iraq's inferior army, but with the aftermath of a destroyed, leaderless country. A Muslim one to boot.

The only difference is he's not still spewing this nonsense.

There is no "Iraq" right now. When there is, we'll see if it is our ally, or Iran's. The jury is most definitely out.

Every war is comprised of numerous battles. The one with the Iraqi military was indeed a "real battle" with real lives lost and a real victory by the US and allies. The current one is just another battle in our "War on Terrorism."

To try to twist one's words to mean something different is just an unfair tactic. No remark made in may 2003 can meaningfully or fairly be combined with current information and remarks. It is similar to quoting a broker in the '90s regarding internet stocks and implying that he is advocating the same strategy now....on biotechs.
