The "business" of salvation is a business like any other. I think the founders intended that the government not endorse any particular faith, not to establish a colossal tax dodge for the pious.

We'd balance the federal budget and wipe out the deficit in about 45 minutes, and have enough left over to invade and occupy Elbonia.
AMEN

Look at it like this, the Vietnam & terrorist are the opposing football team, you, the anti-war protesters are the cheerleaders for the otherr team. Your actions encourage the enemy to fight harder. My business partner was a fighter pilot in Vietnam, and I have many otherr friends who served their country over there, not one agrees with anything that cool-chick or the other left wing crap.

I'm sure the Vitenam vets against the war do not share your simplistic view. Or those of most of the fighter jocks. Yeah, I also knew a fighter jock from that war and he also felt just like you.

I protested against decisions of our goverment to expand a civil war of our generation that we should never have been involved in.

Maybe we should take a national poll to find out if the American public thought the war was a good idea.

Of course, my dad, who is a WW 2 vet was against the Vietnam war and we had some rather loud arguments when I was supporting the war in my youthful ignorance. BTW, he is and always has been a registered Republican, just like me.

Now we are both on the same page about Iraq and this senseless war.

Only one was a fighter jock (Air Force), a few others were (some still) Navy, a couple were Army and a Marine. I might add that it was the french who started the mess in Nam, Kennedy got us involved Nixon got us out.

LMAO

You crack me up.........you guys equate war to a freaking football game....and equate those who oppose the war as "cheering" terrorists or something.....like an anti-war person would cheer murderers....yeah, that makes sense...

And the enemy is now "fighting harder" because of some protestors, but of course they wouldn't otherwise....like they would not actually fight hard otherwise.

Simplistic indeed.

And BTW, I'm not an anti-war person, I just realize how completely STUPID going into Iraq was, along with most of America.

The church is a collective of like-minded folk who ALL PAY THEIR TAXES...Why should their free speech be silenced, yet labor unions can actively campaign for the left, or anti-war types can spend public treasury on cleanup and city planning for their communist rallies?

Where in the Constitution is free speech prohibited?

what is sinking low? taxing the churches, or asking if people put their money where their mouth is?

I own up to my own foibles. I've made mistakes and owned up to them. I want to change things, and I'm moving forward on that project. Hell, I'm even serving my country in a small way.

Oh, they have their "reasons"..

Both my grandfathers lied so they could fight for what they believed in WWII. The chickehawks point out their medical conditions or have a 17yr old girl stop them.. some are more needed at home, orating on bbs's

My dad lied about his age to join for WWII. Different war, different times...

I tried like hell to join, so go fornicate with yourself. I didn't accept the medical reasons, so I went back to MEPS to fight it. After several thousands of $$ taxpayer dollars in medical tests, I proved I don't have asthma, but it wasnt good enough for one doctor who stood in my way.

You should buy that doctor a beer - might have saved your life along with some Iraqi children.

So I can't support the war effort without enlisting? Is that the jist of this?

Or maybe that I can but I shouldn't?

Maybe. If one cannot protest because it will kill our soldiers, then perhaps one cannot support the war without going and helping directly.

People keep arguing that it is black and white...I'm just trying to play along with the home version.
