this woman rocks

jesus h criminy...i post what I find to be a rather inspirational political story (no matter what side of the aisle ur on) and it immediately descends into the usual crap.

I for one don't care about the smears or the party crap. this is a smart (masters from GWU) woman with battle and command experience who is going into politics to try and do some good.

will the dems use her to their advantage? of course...its what parties do. repubs would too. but maybe she'll be able to rise above that.

in my book she is a huge winner: she actually went to battle instead of making excuses or skirting duty, got seriously hurt, but instead os whining or feeling sorry for herself, decided to get back in the game. people in both parties could learn a lot from her...as could coulter and franken.

Umm, wrong district....by about 20 miles.

The district in question is in the heart of DuPage county, perhaps one of the most solidly Republican districts in the country, although it is changing. The only machine there is overwhelmingly Republican. Henry Hyde, (he of "youthful indiscretion" in his mid'40's...) has held the seat for almost 3 decades. I don't recall that there is a single countywide seat that is not currently held by the GOP there.

Assuming she wins the primary, she would still have very long odds of winning against the GOP in the general election.

In any event, she's a neophyte with a compelling story that has been annointed by the national party a bit prematurely, IMO. She's not even the most interesting Democartic candidate in the primary.

Either way they provide no proof whatsoever to the crazy charges you throw around - Karl Rove this, Anne Coulter that. Get over it. Anne Coulter is no more a campaign operative than Rodeo is. She just makes a lot of money throwing out right-wing vitriol in books and talk shows. At least Karl Rove really is a politcal operative, though your whining about his success speaks volumes. Move on!

Get something straight, here: she will not be attacked as vigorously as a non-disabled, non-Iraq war veteran candidate. The Democratic leadership knows this. That's why they are opportunistic, manipulative scum for running her.

Don't try and turn it around and make the Republicans out to be the villains--this one is very one sided.

(Unless they do attack her of course, which would be a compliment that they look past her disability, but would also be foolish with the voters.)

No arguement from me...she is adopting the exact same strategy I would: take the hard issues first (did my duty, I'm a democrat, get over it). I sincerely hope she has a second act with details on her positions. Until then, she gets a very positive endorsement from me.

An admirable story, but sad nonetheless. It's sad because she's decided to enter the political arena in support of a multitude of socialist programs, for one wing of the American Warfare/Welfare Party, and is already campaigning for government healthcare for everyone.

If she wants to stop people like herself from being injured in similar circumstances, she's picked the wrong venue.
