missed the link in the first post , thought it was signature

anyhoo , bit cheezy and kitch if you ask me
the art is in the photography, the shop work ain't doing it for me

and pics wise, i'de go for what's his name, that does the Classic Le Mans 2006...

sure, it's in the eye of the beholder, and opinions are like *******s, everybody has one ... but last weekend was museum night in R'dam

in one of those museums, some artist had stuck a matras against a wall... and that was art ... sheesh

my definition of what ain't art...
if i can do it, then it ain't art.

i can nail a matrass against a wall

and this i what i came up with in 15 minutes, in paintshoppro, with a slidepad instead of a mouse...

sure it's crude, but it ain't that much different from "night in paris" on that website, a picture with a 911... some cropping, selecting, some effects... done.

i call mine "weird vibes from the black devil car"

Is this art?

Is this?

One rule of thumb is if the image evokes emotion, it has, for better or worse, artistic properties. If these two images emote something within the viewer, there's a strong chance they are art.

Now, is it good art? That is debatable, in part to the emotion the viewer feels when looking at the image or art piece.

i can't draw/compose that bottom one, so sure , i'll dig that one
no bloody idea what it's supposed to mean, but the combination works, at best i can come up with something that looks like a 4 year old who had been given some crayons.. nothing decent, no fluent lines

if i can do the "weird vibes from the black devil car" with no decent software, on an old laptop, in less then 15 minutes...

then this

really doesn't impress me all that much

all i gotta do , is fire up Photoshop at work
feed it a half decent Porsche picture
and go mental for an hour or 2 with the full product, a drawing pen, and eyecandy 4000

Duchamps wanted to demonstrate that before us are regular items that on their own or together can be mated into art, hence "readymade."

Basquait was hardly 4-years-old, but rather a homeless genius in the '80s who revolutionized political art.

Whether or not one can "do" what these individuals have done is not at all the point, or even one of the points.

If you view Duchamps, in person, your mind literally twists your mind into thinking about items at your fingertips and how the mundane can become art with the slightest provocation.

Basquait gives you honesty and horror at once as his writings and drawings speak in a social timelessness that will always apply to the world as long as we have:

1) Sex
2) Make money
3) Engage ourselves politically.

All I'm saying is there's more than meets the idea with the first glance.

Duchamp , no s
made better work when he was drawing
then when he was mucking about with readymade crap

if his theory is right, then i can indeed take 2 mondane items, or more
stick em together ,and i'll be an artist

dd74 , i got me a skateboard and a stuffed monkey
i'll glue em together, and send em to an art gallery

what do you think will happen?

- nada
- i'll be discovered as the new Marcel Duchamp and be able to quit my job and start a wild career of bolting and glueing "stuff" together???

btw, i didn't rate basqiat's , the bottom pic as 4 year oldish
i meant i couldn't do something like that , at best i would produce something like a 4 year old

You are entitled to you opinion and I respect that.

Hey, I admit that there is some art that I am not very fond of too but that doesn't mean that everyone feels the same way. It's in the eye of the beholder. So, it doesn't ring you bell, who cares really.

However, I would love to see what you consider your best shot, I could use another laugh.

What does it matter how long it took??!?!?!?!!

If people like it, if it inspires people, what does it matter?

Photoshopped or not, the colors definitely draw the eyes. Usually I prefer B+W art, but this is good. I like it.

I don't know what the fuss is about. Ansel Adams spent hour upon hour in his dark room massaging his shots to get them just right.

I think the pix are nice work!
