Well, Duh!

Dubya's whole second term campaign was about correcting the disastrous mistakes of the previous administration -- which he pretended wasn't his!

After this election is over the game will probably be changed one way or another.

If the Dems don't take over either the House or Senate that means they are playing a losing game and they blew the opportunity for the next president. If they win either one the Reps will follow their tactics going foreword.

The best senario is to can all the anti free traders and have a mixed power sharing of the Legislature vs President so nothing gets done in a partisan way. Then the military is left alone to do what they do best and the bankers rule the economy while the hacks give self promotional speeches on how good a job they are doing. Bill Clinton was a master at that game.

Hasn't happened yet, Weenie. Unlike the tar and feathering Ken Starr received, and still does to this day, by the criminal left.

Assuming you mean this post:

"Actually, no, I cannot. It is just political talk. The nation has never been stronger, the economy is great, low unemployment, record home ownership, a strong military, etc.
Now if only we can solve the illegal immigration problem."

I am obviously referring to the United States. Is there something that you disagree with?

If the goal is to have 30% of the US population behind the misguided plans of the current administration, then, to coin a phrase "Mission Accomplished", plus 3 percentage points. If the goal is to be a responsible member of the world community (sort of a talk the talk/walk the walk kind of behavior), we are way of base, at least as I see it. W's actions in the Middle East have only served to enhance the disdain which many of those already felt towards the US and other western nations (misguided though I believe that is).

Also, I don't think illegal immigration is the only problem to be solved.

While I do not feel that anyone on this forum feels that we as a country are trying to be an irresponsible member of the foreign community, OUR responsibility, and the responsibility of the President of the United States is to lead the country in the manner best for the UNITED STATES, and not the world community.

Hopefully it ends up being the best for both worlds but he did not run and become elected President of the world community.

You may feel that its misguided but there are others in this great country who feel differently. Be sure to vote in the next election and make your feelings known. The last two times the voters let their voice be known and thats the reason we have had the same person in the oval office for two terms.

I've voted every year that I've eligible, with the exception of 1980; Reagan's victory was a good illustration as to why I should have voted that year as well!

Anyone who did not vote has no right to complain. If a person voted and hopefully did something to help in the election then they can bellyache all they want IMHO.

BTW Pres. Reagan is a very good example of someone that everyone laughed at for a long time. Twenty years on more and more he is seen as one of our better Presidents, especially when he is compared to someone like Pres. Carter.

If voting made a significant difference in Constitutional government, elections would be canceled. Voting merely gives the state a method of claiming legitimacy, better results will be obtained by boycotting elections in even greater numbers than now. Voting is not a ticket into the complant line, that is a part of the intrinsic right of free speech, another absolute right.

No, that's not true. Reagan is increasingly seen as a mediocre president at best, and better than what we have now; hell, Carter was a better president than what we have now.

America desparately needs a "none of the above" choice coupled with a super majority requirement for all offices.

Perhaps my " 'nuf said" comment was a bit premature!

I cannot imagine why anyone would want a leader who was in the least bit concerned with popularity polls...and I am sure that is not the goal of the administration. In this country, we elect the brightest and best to run the country. They have much more information and expertise available to them to make decisions than the typical sound bite that liberals spew on CNN. If they wanted a democracy in the US, the founding fathers would have created one...and we would not need to elect leaders.....

As far as "enhancing the disdain" that others felt toward the US....obviously kissing their arse in the previous administration did not get us anywhere...except a surprise present on 9/11.

Who are these mystical mythical countries and people of integrity that disdain us because of Bush's policies?...Is it the French who had their hands in Saddam's bloody dictatorship?...Who exactly are these folks that the liberal media and other socialists love to claim hate us because of Bush?

You people who feel some foreign countries disdain us should revisit who "us" is.

Other countries, including Iran and Iraq do not disdain Americans, although I'm sure exceptions would be made for a few on this particular thread. They do, however, disdain the U.S. Government. Fortunately, many in these same country are able to separate Americans from the American Government - thank goodness.
