From what I recall we have several eyewitnesses to Bill Clinton's cocaine problem, and none to the allegation of Bush having one...Clinton never sought help, still using...Bush has been sober for over 20 years. |

I knew it was an Alfa, but which model? I've only ever seen the girly looking convertibles.

narrow, fragile world views bring out truly scary outlooks and fears.
Rush is at best a fallen hero. The man railed against drugs and drug addicts, then became one himself. I never heard him apologize for any of the hateful things he said before he succumbed to his demons. He is the poster child for hypocrisy. Clinton was no choir boy. And to my mind his relationship with Monica was harassment as there is no "consent" in supervisor/subordinate relationships. And he should be held accountable for that any any other incidents. But it never ceases to amaze me how some of you guys have the black/white goggle firmly loctited into place. Bush has issues too. Big ones. Rush is an unapologetic hypocrite. Coulter is a mean-spirited entertainer who will say anything outrageously conservative to make money. Al Franken does the same from the left, although he at least infuses some humor into it. And the Kennedys...well, enough has been said about them. The sooner that the blinders come off, the sooner we might actually move the country forward. |

Sorry, but we'll have to disagree. It is akin to sex with a minor: a minor cannot make a properly informed decision, thus there is no proper consent.
The supervisor/subordinate relationship is somewhat similar. No matter what "free will" is involved, there is always a question of how the dynamic affects the decision. Bottom line: don't ***** where you eat... |

I don't plan on screwing my boss. But if I want to, it's my decision, and I'm accountable for it. I wouldn't view me as some sort of victim there.......

The blinders will never come off. Some enjoy the hate and derision too much to let it go. Some are pseudo patriots who hate reason and hide behind their strange logic, acting in false indignity when someone suggests an alternative or has an opposing idea. Left, right, both extremes are guilty of tearing the fabric of the country apart just to feed their need for recognition. They contribute nothing to the general good.
We are becoming a nation of idolators, concentrating on the individual and not the society as a whole. Cults of personality, imbuing our heroes with superhuman attributes rather than recognizing them for what they are...flawed, imperfect. In other words, human. We demonize others at the expense of society. Words instead of deeds, promises instead of action. When will it end? As long as people prefer humiliating others and exhibiting false anger to truth and examining possible solutions to the real problems that face this country it will continue.

When one is a lowely intern and the other is thee most powerful man in the world......one can assume some unique dynamics where "choice" may not mean what it usually does.

You are both right. It's bad policy and many times is not "consensual" in the true sense of the word. OTOH, grown-ups can make their own decision. But I say if you are the boss and a subordinate claims she was taken advantage of, the deck is stacked against you, and should be.

One can always take the moral high road and say "no" if your dignity is more important than a job.
