But no the Steelers did not look good at all. I can't imagine they are happy with that game. Did you even watch? Not terrible....but no one would call it good. They had lost the game with 5 minutes to go and got a couple gifts.

1) Culpepper looked iffy running untill he took the hit from that Mallahoolo guy. Then he had a nice scramble after that. Untill that hit it looked like he was getting rid of the ball a little to quickly. I am impressed with his knee at this point. Wonder how sore it is today? Nice 2 consecutive COSTLY interception performance, ha!
2) Refs blew a few calls, but thats the way it goes. How a coach doesnt seem to know the rules on the replay flag deal...reminds me of our old incompetant staff. Our new staff, we will have to wait and see. 3) Like they say, the good teams find a way to win the ugly ones and Pitt did just that. 4) I dont like the show boat crap, but have to admit I liked it when the pitt line backer did the Daunte roll at the end of the game. I didnt like that crap when he was here!

As little as the 1st string plays during preseason, I thinks games 1-3 have very little to do with the outcome at the end.
Pepper looked much better after the hit - bet you he's good and iced up today...

Batch is one of the best back-ups in the league, he is 3-0 as a starter over the last 2 seasons. The only mistake he made really wasnt his fault--the fumble was a result of Faneca elbowing the ball when he pulled back to block. Good teams overcome mistakes, after the fumble they took charge--Millers TD run ignited the entire team--the satdium was going nuts--we didnt even know there was a challenge untill watching the post-game press conference. Miller did step out, but Saban is an idiot for being so tenative about the challenge, he is an NFL head coach and he looked scared to bother the ref, if that had been cowhere he would ahve chucked the flag 50 yards and been right in the refs' face, and not made a flag throw(according to a caller this morning) "like my 2-year old feeding the ducks". The Steelers defense played great, Taylor, Polamalu, Porter, et al. The Steelers are once again looking good.

The most glarring drop was the simple TD that hit Chambers in the facemask! Then the other where he was wide open and Pep overthrough him by 10 yards. These were oddball mistakes that generally won't happen. Pitt's go ahead TD was another oddball, likely the longest TD by a tight end in Pitt history and probably for the league in several years. It was a good play, but a rarity that broke their way. Miami had done an excellent job stopping Pitt to that point, especially the pass. Broken coverage......

Oh you might want to ask a viking fan this one. One minute he throws a perfect pass the next he throws one at thier feet. Very common for the pep. |
