There is quite a difference between the values of good, original early 911S cars, (1973 and older, before the bodies and engines changed), and a 911SC, which is a good driver but very common. (They sold a lot of them, and the performance was a little less exciting).

One could make an argument that EM's car is not the most pristine and original, hence the relatively low bid price. (Perfect examples can pull $60k or more these days). A 1982 911SC turbo-look would be hard to really appraise since Porsche never made such a car, but if the build quality was first-rate it could be worth $9k. If it was built in a chop-shop in the hood, it could be worth less than an '88 Tercel.

"Nothing special if you ask me."

- You missed one small fact in all the BS -- Dave B. (TRE) stated that exec's car _was_ able to keep up with his car. That tells me that there is something special about the motor (or the gearing is magically set just for the speeds they were going at) -- so, the eBay ad is wrong -- some would say fraudulent.

Hey - Tyler, TX is where my Dad used to sell his Quarter-horses...

Dave B., and a bunch of others in L.A. who make their living with these cars, mine included.

That's why I was inclined to bet against the fray that EM's car
could do all be suggested. The brain trust was too damn deep, even with all the engineering minutiae.

These cars aren't exactly linear.

I'd bet against 165...clocked...top off, no added aero other than the front spoiler bumper.

so as it happened, today I was driving along in my 70S (sorry speeder) and I was climbing along the 101 along the universal pass. I has just entered the freeway in second gear, I took it up to 7200 to shift when I thought to see if it would go beyond, to 8K maybe. Well, quite effortlessly I took it up to just below 8K when I shifted. No problem and I'm still around to tell y'all.

Me too....but don't ever buy a house or let your kids ride their bikes where I drive.

So let's see some non photoshopped speed runs.

Local streets, passengers shaking in fear....blurry shots.....

And this was a 1.8T!!!!

Isn't 260 Kmh less than 165 mph? Now imagine doing that speed in an old S w/skinny wheels, top off, and no aero aids.

GREEN TAGGED 911 RENSPORT ENGINES

I have been around early Porsches for over 35 years.. I am still learning new facts every day.. I knew this was true and I have heard the term FACTORY RENNSPORT ENGINE but never heard it described as Green Tagged...

My 911S was ordered as a sport model it has short gears 1-4, (stock 5th), a Limited Slip , Front Cooler, (4) 7 inch wheels, Bilsteins and probably a Green Tagged factory 911S engine

As stated I have a correct 911S engine!

Posted on the early 911S tech boards 11/21/06...

"I just clicked over and went thru the description of the white 911E in the link above, and the part about the car's engine having been "green tagged" in the factory for higher output engine? Is that true? Isn't that why Porshe made the 911S engine, so that people could have a higher output engine than the 911E that was offered?
Never heard about green tagging at the factory. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?"

"Green tagging is true.. I have a documented 69S with the same . The car was intended for racing from new by the customer."

Well, I guess the Mystery of the 165 MPH 911S has finally been solved.

(Although you'd think it would be Yellow Tagged, since everyone knows Yellow = Fast.)

Most definitely! I mean, if it's posted on an internet board, it's always truth, right?

Yes, OF course! EM, who ...(need I remind everyone) scoffs when people offer printed DOCUMENTATION, offers up.....heresay to "prove" that HIS special 'world revolves around me" engine is actually better than all the other engines.

Yup, shorter gears = higher top speeds. cough, gag..

add 10-20 hp, get another 10 -20 MPH.
(With the Targ top out of course, and the front end a flyin'....

sheesh....

Does he really think that anyone is dumb enough to accept ANYTHING he says?

The funny thing about dumb people is that they are incapable of seeing the superior intelligence of those around them, while smart people have no problem with this. Hopefully that made sense, and clears up this situation.

Why bother arguing like this? Yea I made some posts and they were mostly laced with sarcasm which does not work well in this sort of format.

The bottom line is Mali is not going to believe anyone but himself, he’s not interested in anyone else’s opinion but his own. When a picture of a tach is followed by insults and boasting laced with “I dare you I dare you, pay me pay me” whats the real point in going any further?

Unless as in my case its simply for the entertainment provided by making Mali keep showing up here day after day ranting and raving.
