![]() I especially like the "More Bad RE News..." thread. If you close out this forum, please tuck that thread somewhere so I can continue to read it. One of the best threads on the internet, IMO.

Hopefully the forum will restrain itself on christian bashing. Much more serious than any homo bashing, its an affront to the majority of the people in this country to state that their main beleif in an afterlife is a fantacy, hokus pokus. Such bashing WILL shut this forum down.

Funny part is I have a number of friends and acquaintences that are liberal and an almost equal number that are conservatives. They seem to be church goers on an equal level. I cannot see where generalities really do anything except to inflame people.
I do not know how to define an acceptable moral code. Perhaps a line from the movie "O God" sums up my feelings about the subject: "I gave you one basic rule. Don't hurt each other." Fits every situation I can think of, from murder to theft, even to suicide.

OK, Bob. I didn't want to use this term, but please replace the word "liberal" in my post with "Secular Progressive". I think that more accurately describes those of which I speak.
I agree with you that there are religious liberals. I actually know quite a few. I was refering more to the ACLU types who bristle at the mention of God. They don't actually bother me too much. I just keep a crucifix in my pocket in case they get too close. That said, I'm not sure that there is any difference between the terms "Secular Progressive" and an older term: "Godless Communist".

Seems as if most folks I know, although it evens out to the middle, tend to me more "liberal" on social issues, and more "conservative" on economic issues.
Liberal is not a bad word. Many things require a liberal outlook if change is to happen. If a word could be coined that would define the type of people I am really afraid of, it would require the addition of the German "uber" in front of the words "liberal" and "conservative". These are the ones that are truly intransigent, unchangable and idealogical. That kind of thinking leads to dictatorships and worse. We should all be very wary of extremists of any stripe. I think the Country needs both liberals and conservatives of moderate beliefs if there is to be a balance and progress on essential issues.

Posted by Snowman,
"Blah, blah, blah.....Such bashing WILL shut this forum down." Wayne will decide when and why to shut this forum down. If he does it will be in no small part to posts like yours.
