Medical advice please - is this sciatica?

Getting a numb, tingly feeling down the back of my left leg all the way to my kneecap. Seems to originate from my lower back. Started happening after spinning classes at the gym. Sometimes gets so bad that I have to lie down because it feels like my leg might fold under me. 600 mg of ibuprofen helps, naproxen not so much.

Is this just sciatica or something worse?

Sounds like sciatica. I get the same thing when I wear my wallet in my back pocket when I'm driving the cars, so I always keep my wallet somewhere else and that helps, but occasionally I'll sleep the "wrong way" and will wake up with the same kind of pain. I take Aspirin or Ultram if it's really severe.

Yep, it get really fun when the sting goes to your toes and then your leg goes numb.

Sometimes you can 'pop' it back in place by taking it easy, carefully stretching and alternating heat and ice on your lower back.

Maybe but the sciatica I've suffered with in the past was anything but numb/tingling. It felt like a knife being stuck into my glutes and radiating down my leg. Could simply be a matter of degree, but mine hurt like he11

Damaged disc's in the spinal cord usually lead to this problem. They start deteriating and the result is a pinched nerve. This usually feels like the things described above. A good Chiropractor can usually help relieve this problem. I've been dealing with this for MANY years! Don't ignore it!
