NBC Blood dancing...
The following is a cut & paste from another board I visit...I agree with this post, hope you guys do as well:
"Guys read this now...time matters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NBC has gotten footage of the mass killer at VT...it seems he mailed it to them between shoots. It also seems NBC would like him to spread his message after death. They see it as news(and ratings) and not fuel for other wingnuts.BUT THATS WHAT IT IS. If you would like to deter them turn it off or change the channel.I find myself in an odd spot of calling for action, but I am.If this guy has a voice after death because he made the world wide news because he killed so many people, what do you think the next guy is going to do?Got Family? TURN IT OFF. And Email NBC. FLOOD THEM. I use a few message boards ( I assume we all do ) so what I ask is that you copy and post this where you can. The people (us) need to fix this...for our own good we had better. NBC is letting him speak (in quotes for the minute I watched) as though his message is valid. I'm sickened by it.We all should be."

Slak, as far as I'm concerned all of the mainstream media is "blood dancing"...dancing in the blood of the victims in order to get ratings...so they can charge more for their over the counter medicine ads. "If it bleeds, it leads", right? The only people this footage could help are the pros who analyze such crazies, in the hope of spotting them in the future. We, the great unwashed? We watch out of morbid curiosity...I don't see a damned thing political about the original post...

SOMEONE has to be demanding this stuff, otherwise they wouldn't do it.
Before pointing the finger of blame (although NBC certainly has sunk several notches on the "journalistic credibility" scale for their sleazy actions), let's look in the mirror.

I for one am glad to have heard what he had to say, it gives me a clearer idea of why he did what he did. Instead of leaving U wondering, it expalins alot of this sad indivduals thinking. In the end I feel sorry for Mr Cho, that he had no other way to redress his grievences agains t the world, that he lacked the ability to communicate them in a different way that wouldn't have caused so much harm.
As for NBC, I have no love for them, they would show their own Mothers dangling from the precipice to get a rating.

Hey, I can look in the mirror...it's 6:11 PM, PDT...my TV is off. This is as it has been for more than a decade in this house. I wasn't singling out NBC...seriously, they all produce this trash, no matter who gets the latest "exclusive". When I read this post on another BB, I remembered reading that Kip Kinkle (sp?) is still receiving "fan mail" from kooky kids all across the land. The publicity that one crazy gets breeds another...who then takes action.

If it's fame you are after? Try something like getting on "American Idol" so you can become a hit by singing "she bang" poorly. Hey, it worked for Tiny Tim...way back when.

The "latest" thing has ALWAYS knocked off the last "latest" thing. Nothing new there...except there are many, many times more outlets to see it/hear it. It is super magnified now.
Ordinarily I am not one who has too much of a beef with the media but I happened to be home later than usual this morning and turned on the TV to the Today show. Yuk, doing a live remote from the college, interviewing survivors, "...how did you feel at that time, etc, etc..." Interviewing a girl that was a freshman at Columbine and now attends VT - talk about eery coincidence?! It amazes me they'd put themselves in the postion of being so obviously capitalizing (ratings) on the misery and death of others. Not very happy with them and I usually have no grudge against the typical morning show blather, but this...? No thanks, it was beneath a major news organization (but apparently I am one of few that feels that way)

I'll offer an opposing view... I have not left the couch since 5:30 watching this mess. Maybe I don't understand it, which is why I'm obsessed with trying to figure it out. I think there are probably a lot of others that feel the same way...
For instance: Where are the parents, the family, etc? There's *nothing* on these people, although the news was in front of their house. Have the not been found yet? I understand they are in hiding....where? Why isn't the news showing the whole "manifesto". If killing 32 people isn't offensive enough, how is the rest of that message going to offend me/us? One of the guys on MSNBC held the text up the camera... you could read the text "KKK" in the middle of it all. There's more to this they are not showing. The news isn't exploring this Muslim angle that are cropping up around the web in conjunction with the Ismail Ax thing. Why? I have read the non-sense plays trying to make sense of it. The media barely touches that. If they could just lay it all out, we'll draw OUR conclusions, not there and then we can all put it behind us and move on.

I think it's a shame if Mr. Cho got picked on by somebody, or got his ass kicked in a fight with some rich kid, or got turned down by a hot chick, or whatever. I might have felt sorry for him, until that whole mass murder thing. NBC has now shown all the sad, hopeless, weak-minded, insecure people out there that even though they could not succeed with words, or their brains, or their talent, they still have one last chance to be famous and successful, like Mr. Cho. The news directors and supervisors at NBC who decided to release the images and video of Mr. Cho should be held accountable for the next tragedy that happens, when some kid kills his ex-girlfriend and some strangers and the kid who beat him up in high school and FILMS THE WHOLE THING and then sends it to CNN.

Instead of NBC news, I am watching the Discosvery Channel - Dirty Jobs is on, Mike Rowe is at a place that takes dead turkeys and converts it into fertilizer. During commercials I switch to 27 to catch Scrubs - I am really hot for Elliot and Jordan, those babes are hotties!

It's still news. It is "what's happening." I don't blame NBC for having the jump. They'd be fools for not taking the opportunity. TV News is about ratings and sponsors.
"Network" will teach you all you need to know about news and what drives it.
