I am reasonably well traveled and have lived in a few places including Europe and I have to agree with Richard; the south OC coast is pretty awesome.
--No different than the south of France, the Spanish coast, etc...

Then again, it isn't the Caribean or Hawaii, which might be extremely beautiful but lacking in providing some of the other stuff (diversity in activities, perfect weather, jobs, etc) that makes like great.

Everyplace has its charm, even Jersey! I miss North Jersey for so many reasons (my big lot, my colonial, nice neighbors, good delis, great bagels, great pizza, trees, leaves, and NYC). Actually hoping to get back there next months for some meetings and a few nights in Manhattan. Oh, Manhattan!!'

And I am sure many of you have enjoyed an Arizona sunset and star gazing at night. Although it can be 120 degrees, a steak at Pinnacle Petes under the stars is hard to beat.

I agree. The ADVrider forum is a great place for adventure people. The new KLRs are the bomb. I'm absolutely in love with this bike. It does everything very well and is quite competent in the rough stuff. I thrashed mine for a few thousand miles this past summer and it held up really well. Great bike!

You havn't seen Montceito...Monarch PALES by comparison. One person living on top of another doesn't interest me... S CA is wall to wall people.

Montecito is extremely nice as well. How are the beaches? Do you run in to Ohprah every now and then ...
Unfortunately, not easy to find a good job in that part of the state. I have had a few friends that grew up in Santa Barbara that had to move to pursue their professional aspirations.

Oprah's place sucks...BTDT...it's monitored like the Gestapo runs it. She's always getting stop work orders from the Building Department because she changes her mind all the time and doesn't bother to get permits....

The beaches in Montecito, Santa Barbara, Hope Ranch etc .... are marginal. Natural seeps from the off shore oil deposits bring in tar....it's a south facing beach so any decent waves are in the Winter and it's freezing cold with the wind chill.
