I think it was about the CIA looking up the skirts of arab women by using periscopes in black submarines. The arab women got in trouble for letting a black man's periscope get up her skirt.

Their god constructs a dictatorship of beliefs. There is no free will. There is no liberty.

What we have is a vehicle for Superman to take non-rational events happening in a backwards country, then use these events as a vehicle for draping all the ills of the world on the shoulders of George W. Bush. Then, when anyone calls him on this ridiculous pile of feces, he is provided with his opportunity to move to Stage Two of the typical Soup thread. This is where he then heaps unending amounts of bilious condescension and contempt on anyone who disagrees with him. It is the prototypical Soup thread that is predictably and unerringly played out week after week after week after week after week after week after...

Soup, how about a Miata or VW to replace your stuffed 911? Much more proletariat cars and I hear their supporters have great forums. I bet Rampo would follow you there, too. .. .

Thanks. Not that I am taking sides and I do not necessarily agree with your thesis on Supermanīs posting, but that is a very funny post!

To use netspeak, George W. Bush owns Superman. And G.W. lives rent free in Supe's empty skull.

My God man, get a hobby.

A bit of actually trying to understand different POVs would be nice here.

We have a situation in any culture where those born into that culture are truly "indoctrinated" in that culture. Therefore, to them, the beliefs and mores of that culture are the norm. To other cultures, these beliefs and norms may be quaint or even unacceptable and considered dangerous. So the question is actually one of the generations it would take to change another culture into one that "you" would find acceptable. And, that culture is thinking the same thing about "you"!!

One long range hope would be the globalization of society which is in its infancy. If the human race can stop itself from self destructing for a century or two, this globalization might just result in a little more homogenous society. There is danger in this as well.

About the only bright thing Bush has done lately is to ignore the human rights violations in Saudi Arabia. This is a no-win scenario.

Sir Edmund Burke said, "Free trade is not based on utility but on justice”. He had it precisely backwards. It's this type of western culture evangelism that cripples us. International trade should be done with a degree of detachment, frequently while holding ones nose.

A fair part of the world views Bush as a war criminal. In their minds he invaded a sovereign nation under false pretenses. Should these nations stop trading with the US? Of course not.

Now to Supes point. The "cozy" relationship between the US and the Saudi Royal family precedes George W. We've been turning a blind eye (appropriately) to Sharia's imbecilic brutality for decades. Ignoring Islams repugnant cultural postures is the only reasonable position.

Why is it that when Bush actually does something the wacko libs slam him for it and when he doesn't do something, the wacko libs slam him for it.
Make up your freaking mind, if you actually have one.

Good post. Bush probably learned from his father's dealings with China that browbeating other countries on human rights issues gets you nowhere fast. Even his father's policy of pushing China toward free trade and more openness has not made any improvement at all in their human rights behavior. I think a lot of people were expecting a Soviet-esque collapse, but China has defied all odds and managed to create a very capitalist system within a police state. Why would Saudi Arabia be any different? You can party like a rock star in China and never have the slightest feeling you're in a police state. I don't think it's the same in S.A.

No! What are you trying to do? Reduce Off-Topic to an empty echo chamber?

But it's so much fun to come here to watch the mud going back and forth. We need at least 50% of Pelicanheads to remain closed-minded for the entertainment value.

China's capitalist success comes first from detaching the military completely from business and economics. Iran's Revolutionary Guards is embedded in business yielding a distracted military and poor business decisions.

China won't disturb the US much with military provocation in fear of creating economic roadblocks.

btw.. the US is involved in worldwide economic war.

How is this not visible to some of you? Opec uses the oil spicket to wage war. Chavez said it just that plainly this week. I understand their point of view. They would like to destroy this country. My point of view just differs from theirs. Maybe they need to understand mine! It's simple Warfare against this country, be it terrorism, conventional, economic or virtual, will result in warfare in return.

As an outsider I see a lot of things about America and it's people I like. I also see some things I don't like. They are pretty much the same issues we have in my country. But I see all the good that comes from America, and there is lots of it, and the help it affords other nations, and it all it gets is a constant barrage of sh$t. You guys are damned if you do and damned if you don't. The rest of the world uses America like a big brother in a school yard fight.
I see a lot of guys here that sh$tcan their own country. I don't get it. There are things that crap me to the bone about my country but I don't b$tch and moan about it. I thank God that I live the comfortable lifestyle that I do and get on with it.
We are seriously lucky we don't live in a hell hole like Saudi.
My life is what it is because of the help the son's and daughters of the U.S and Australia died for. We owe it to them to stand up for our respective countries, sure you don't have to agree with some of the Governments policies etc, but don't sh$tcan them.
I know it's a simplistic view but life is good for the most part.

Thanks Wolf. I don't get it either. The PC leftie crowd can't seem to find one thing they like about America. They can find tons of virtue in murderers like Che & Putin. I've told them before, If I felt like they do about this country, I'd move.
