Just because someone disagrees with Bush or disapproves of the debacle in Iraq does not make them a liberal.
Bush has betrayed nearly every single tenet of conservatism. How many spending bills has he vetoed? Is our government smaller than when he took office? Less intrusive? How about our national debt? Have you ever read the patriot act and considered it's implications? I'd rather we live as a free people and risk terror attacks than surrender our liberties bit by bit. Bush is an affront to all things conservative. He's taken us on a 1.5 trillion dollar nation building adventure, he's signed nearly every spending bill congress has floated past his desk and he's assaulted the delicate underpinnings of our personal liberties by suspending habeas corpus. I'm no Bush fan. I'm a conservative.

I find it ironic that some people can express this sentiment about the Patriot Act, but the same people can have the opposite opinion when it comes to the Second Amendment...

One worst case scenario -- that admittedly does require a tinfoil hat -- is the government slowly legislating away your rights with its very successful "for your own safety" message, ultimately leading to a coup supported by the Corporation and backed up by a Blackwater style militia.

your naiveté is noted, and your trusting nature is adorable.
What company lobbied, and lobbied hard, such that only 5% of all cargo containers are screened at U.S. ports? If you hurry down to Walmart, they have some of these left in stock.

I guess you have more information than I do. I'm glad that you can confirm that the State Department didn't really grant Blackwater immunity in the attack on Iraqi's and that Howard Kronguard's (state department inspector general) brother really isn't on the Blackwater board of directors.
Government loves people like you Rearden. they need you. Do you still have your Neville Chamberlain is #1 button?
