If Bill Richardson can finish 3rd or better it will be a different kind of horse race. One governor with goobs of experience against three wet behind the ears Senators.

My biggest problem with Hillary is how she keeps referring to "our eight years in the White House" as her experience.
Someone needs to tell her "you were the First Lady, not co-President. Your experience counts as much as the White House pastry chef."

I really want to vote Democrat this time, and they seem intent on ****** it up again. Hillary will drive more people away from the Dems than she draws to them.

Yeah. You tell her that. Don't be surprised if you're missing part of your anatomy afterward.

I said she wasn't qualified... not that I wasn't scared of her!

So much talk about the Democratic "front runners". The Republicans haven't got that much going for them either.

Both parties seem to be fishing at the shallow end of the gene pool.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just declare a holiday from Government for about 4 years? Maybe then "try again"?

This election, above all others, cries out for a "none of the above" box.

And it is not like Independents are suffering from an embarrassment of riches, either

Boy I hope you're wrong, but I sadly think you're overestimating the intelligence and discretion of the average citizen out there.

There are an awful lot of very stupid and very easily duped individuals out there. A LOT

Plus you're fighting the "Bush Backlash". A lot of people may very well just vote (D) because Bush was an (R) and they assume anyone else with an (R) is going to mean "more of the same, just like Bush". That's a HUGE liability to a Republican candiate right now. ANY Republican candidate.

I tend to think this is the result of news media run as profit centers, looking at low hanging fruit (Hillary, Obama, St. Rudy of 9/11, etc.) to turn into easy news stories. They concentrate on the most well known or trendy candidates, and the more seasoned or qualified candidates never have a chance. For example, Ron Paul only gets media attention when his online fund raising garners big money. Otherwise, he's ignored. Biden is more qualified than the rest of the Dem field, but he's going nowhere. Really qualified candidates that aren't easy for the media to digest and present as sound bites know they'll have no chance. I could be wrong, it's just a theory.

That's the attitude that lost the Dems the White House in 2004. "Heck, everyone hates GWB so much we can run anyone and win!"

How can any Paul supporter be a serious Dem? Paul wants to cut gov't. spending to the bone and especially on all the programs Dems wants the most.

While I think that's true, I also think the media always wants to create a horse race too. They will beat-up on the lead candidate to push their poll numbers down. Close races mean more ad revenue and more people watching news coverage.

I'm actually kind of surprised all the Ron Paul stuff I've been seeing around here also. Few bumper stickers and what-not. Heck, yesterday I went out for a run along the beach and someone had dug in huge gigantic letters "RON PAUL" into the sand so people standing up on the bluff could see it. Kinda' cool.

I want to like the guy, but there are some things I'm not sure of. For one, a co-worker of mine sent the following link to me today, where Paul is bumbling around and looking like kind of an idiot on camera.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk-RKJNF-iw&feature=related

This isn't going to help him against the likes of a Mitt Romney, who has the whole "looking presidential" thing down pat. Yes, he's totally fake and manufactured, but appearance counts for a lot (just ask Kennedy and Nixon).

The whole thing about him supposedly not believing in evolution too is a major red flag. Although I can't find any definitive link to him saying it (just a rumor possibly).

Giuliani might be tolerable if he wasn't an illegal alien sympathizer. Same with McCain. Huckabee scares the crap out of me because of his ties to evangelical Christians - no way on this earth I'm voting for someone that would start chipping away at the wall between church and state and pushing a religious agenda. No way. So who's left on the (R) side? Not much.

The (D) side is worse. There's Hillary - who is NOT Bill, doesn't have his brains or diplomacy skills and who is a dyed-in-the-wool pinko communist masquerading as an American. There's Obama, who thinks that charm and good looks alone (no experience) can make him a sensation. There's the trial lawyer Edwards. Ugh. None of them appeal to me very much.

The Dems do have Richardson though. Too bad he won't get too far.
