I saw the same thing on the back of a late model Japanese 4 door sedan that was lowered and had fat tires/wheels. No idea what that is!--Dave

This is what a REAL GT 350R looks like. Plastic side and rear (open at top) window, Aluminum window frame, double capacity gas tank with monza filler,no bumpers, 306 hp 289, blocked off rear quarter window openings, no rear brake ducts, Falcon style dash, flat guage panel, short race bucket for driver only, and other trick details.
The red car shown has a few R like details, but it ain't no R !

I asked one of my "Import Tuner" friends

It's called a drift charm. The Japanese used actual subway hand rings to hang from their tow hooks, but that mutated into hanging curtain rings, stuffed animals, or anything else that can drag the ground.

Another response I got:

It's called a Tsurikawa and they're stolen from trains/subway in Japan and hung in the rear of classic j tin in defiance of the law and to demonstrate how low the vehicle is. Done properly, it should be dragging on the ground. "drift charms" are a lame adaptation derived from the original purpose

For you folks that are wondering what the white ring is, maybe it's one of these.

And these had one on the bottom right, but the one on this one is a different shape.

It's probably similar to this joke

Looks like I was wrong and Tom's got the answer.

That's right. Check out Japanese low rider culture. Shakotan. Or Bosozuku style. The Japanese have a very original and creative approach to car customization. Of course some people won't appreciate those styles. But in my opinion variety makes car culture interesting. If everyone drove around in Carrera RSRs it would get boring.

I'm just starting to learn about some of the car subcultures in Japan. One of the most extreme are modified cars inspired by the Japanese Grand Champion series from the 1980s. These cars were super powerful and used some massive aero aides.

For example:

Fans of the series began to customize their own cars using these huge wings and powerful sounding engines as inspiration.

It's rare to see these on the road but pretty exciting when you do.

Liebherr really pushes the capability of their equipment in these viewer events. This reminded me of the excavator climbing the tower video. Very impressive. If you've ever worked around yellow iron, you'll appreciate what a competent operator is cable of.
