I was impressed with the overall quality of the 1944 B&W film Kato hayabusa sento-tai (1944) - IMDb shot during the war.
Some of it has superb scenes about a grown kid just flying his Nakajima Ki-43.

The film is still 1940s though... Slow and boring by today's standards.
I saw it once with subtitles somewhere.
Not sure if available still.

P-38! I stumbled into this place several years ago. It sits just off the highway on the middle of very rural MN. Saw the top half of a P-51 prop sticking up above the horizon and had to stop The guy behind it got in on the ground floor of building ethanol plants.

Mr Fagan was sitting in the cockpit of the P40K fuselage undergoing nut and bolt restoration talking to another guy when I knocked on the shop's door and asked to look around. I'm a nobody to him and it was Sunday. He was very tolerant of me and the place appears to have only gotten more remarkable!

I've watched other P-38 videos on Youtube where they got into the variants, politics of the failed British order and redeployment into Asia where the range was a factor, but the video link I posted yesterday was both technically and at a personal level superior - just more involving.

I do notice that all the old pilots in the videos I've watched said their fighter aircraft was the best and most beautiful, well almost. The beauty award goes to the Spitfire in my opinion.

The GT4 Coupe is based on the 2002ti but was an amalgamation of various BMW models. For example; exterior parts such as the windshield wipers, door handles and the turn signals are from the 2800CS. The tail lamps were from an Alfa 1750 Berlina Mk1. The design of the dashboard and instrument cluster came from the BMW 2500 which featured large round instruments, and wood trim that surrounded the heater and vent controls. The interior was leather and a large extent of it came from the 2002.

A fictionalized depiction of the 1941 onset of the air war between Japan and the US and Britain.

A propaganda film (much like our "Flying Leather Necks")
it hosts some symbolism in that it displays the slow eventual wane of Japanese Air Power as the war progresses.

A true (very rare) classic for those who enjoy rare classic war films.

My dad trained on P-47's

He told the story that p-38's were training nearby... at times they would see each other in the sky and have impromptu dog fights.

If these P-38's were the later P-38L's with the dive flaps ailerons it would be no contest. However, in the video posted the compression issues in a dive were so bad that at 300 mph in a 15 degree dive one could lose control it was claimed.

P-47 could dive like crazy, P-38 could climb like crazy. It would be an interesting match up.
