Anyone see a DC-9 when they see the Chinese COMAC ARJ21?

Click on the link above...

After building DC-9's under license for several years, they 'magically' came up with this plane.

The Chinese assure us that it's a totally indigenous design... nothing to do with the DC-9.

The metamorphosis of the DC-9

The ARJ21 is actually a derivative of the old McDonnell Douglas DC-9/MD-80, which was produced under license in China brought from US teams, and taking the configuration characteristic of the two rear engines, one on each side of the fuselage.
Quote:
The aircraft manufacturer COMAC ARJ21 refers to as a plane “designed by Chinese, with independent property rights fully,” although this plane outwardly resembles the Boeing 717 aircraft (MD-95). The model McDonnell Douglas MD-80 had been previously manufactured under license in China.

Accordingly, the ARJ21 has many features that are reminiscent reactors 95 McDonnell Douglas MD-with a fuselage nose and tail section similar. Wings instead has redrawn by the Ukrainian manufacturer Antonov.
When the wings fall off it, you will know that's it's really a Russian/Chinese plane.

Since those cool jet fighter "missile carriers" just point at a target and press button to fulfill their function, I wonder if the mighty stealth bomber(current range of 7k miles), which is capable of carrying far more counter-AA munitions and electronics and cannon, will eventually incorporate some sort of internal hybrid blimp technology and achieve extended loiter time to become a multi-purpose sector entity as well as just a single mission use aircraft for there and back.
It could do AA as well as AG, survey and jam, plus limited ground support on demand.
Jack of all trades like the Hind but king of bombing.

PACIFIC OCEAN – It was an unmanned test, but the United States’ return to human-rated space flight resumed after 42 years on Dec. 4. As part of Experimental Flight Test-1 (EFT-1), the Orion capsule was launched, orbited and just as importantly, recovered for re-use.

The state-of-the-art spaceship was plucked from the Pacific Ocean with crucial assistance from Arcata’s Wing Inflatables.
