I had a Lemon-Peeler that i mowed lawns to earn the money to buy from a kid down the street who just turned 16, sadly that was stolen too. I got it as a bunch of parts and rebuild it to its former glory.

Received one of them orange crate for my 10th birthday, rode it to a mall around Chicago 2 weeks after I had it, and it was gone in 60 seconds! There must be a cache around the country with 100's of stolen crates rusting.

I had a gold Stingray for Christmas (71 or so) that was stolen a few months later. It was in the front yard. Worked like a dog delivering newspapers and bought a green Stingray. I learned my messy and never left it in the yard again. Still have it home in the garage.

When I was about 11 or 12 years old, my dad bought matching Huffy ten speeds like this one for my older brother and I:

This is the bike I rode to the hydro races mentioned earlier in this thread. I had it until I graduated high school and really "stepped up" to a Schwinn LeTour.

The Huffy got stolen one day when I was a bout 13-14 years old. I had ridden it across town to see a buddy, and left it in the breezeway in his apartment complex for literally just a minute. It was gone when we came out with his bike to go riding. It was pretty obvious where the thief had to have come from, and where he had to have gone. We walked a footpath connecting to an adjoining neighborhood, and sure as hell, there was the thief, riding my bike. An older, high school aged kid. We never said a word, nonchalantly walking his way, counting on him having no idea he was looking at the guy he had just stolen the bike from.

It was perfect - he never saw it coming. As he passed us going the other way, I cold-cocked him with the hardest right a young Golden Gloves kid could muster. Cleaned him right off the bike. I found out later that I had broken his jaw, his nose, and one cheekbone. Not to mention a bunch of loose teeth. I know, I know - "ya coulda kilt him"... God damned thieves...

Before the Huffy, I had a Schwinn like this one, but with a purple seat. It had a "drag slick" rear tire, which was dead square in cross section, with two "cheater" grooves in it.
