A pickup truck, a helicopter, and a hovercraft parked in the middle of the street. You don't see that every day. Any idea what they're doing there?

Something doesn't look right, probably staged?
To knock over a traffic light from the base is hard to believe.. unless the base was made of a soft allow... I have seen trucks that have hit a traffic light and the damage was far more than that 911..

Probably not staged. The poles primarily for lighting are designed to snap at the base. Other applications might be different but I am sure from past experiences that damage can be a lot more severe for the automobile and the repairs to the
pole if not designed that way. |

I think the red Porsche is the image widebody911 (Thom?) was trying to post. It is a red postage stamp on my screen - just trying to help.

You don't see too many FG "S" bumpers on early cars with steel wheels.
Kinda looks like the poles used in So Cal for red light cameras. Good thing he didn't knock down the scaffolding!

Modern poles are made to break away.
"Pole-Safe® Omni-Directional Breakaway Supports for Poles Transpo's "Double Neck" Pole-Safe® breakaway support system is designed for poles located within roadside clear zones and other locations vulnerable to vehicular impacts. The primary component of the system is a high-strength coupling, designed to break away quickly and cleanly upon impact, thus saving lives and reducing property damage. Pole-Safe® couplings are omni-directional, meaning the system breaks away with consistent, predictable behavior, regardless of the vehicle's angle of impact. Vehicle crash-tested in accordance with NCHRP Report 350, Pole-Safe® is approved for use on all FHWA funded projects. In addition to superior safety performance, Pole-Safe® provides high structural load-carrying capacity. Extensive finite element analysis and simulated wind-load testing has been used to optimize the system for maximum loading conditions. Pole-Safe® is designed for use with the maximum allowable pole mass as specified by AASHTO. Pole-Safe® can be used on a large range of light pole sizes and configurations for increased safety and efficiency. The high-strength coupling design offers exceptional resistance to forces created by wind and dead loads. Independent fatigue testing has demonstrated that Pole-Safe® couplings are capable of withstanding more than two million loading cycles with no reduction in structural capacity. The Santa crash was explained on Jalopnik today. "Santa" emailed them and detailed what happened. A cab sideswiped the guy and he ran off into the pole. There was a pretty big dent on the left side of the car (not shown in any of these photos going around). The car is apparently fixed now. And it is a 912 FWIW.
