Stepdtrs assured her it would be a small gathering chaperoned by one of the kid's mother and father. Wife spoke with the mother and assured everything was under control. I still felt uneasy, but I'm just step dad so WTF do I know.

Fast forward to 3 a.m. I awake to find my wife gone. Call her cell. She's at the S.O. picking up one of the twins. She, along with 33 other teens, is being charged with MIP (minor in possession). Seems the quiet after prom party turned into major happening. The other step dtr and her bf heard the police and escaped to the woods where they hid until wife could go pick them up. The parents who "chaperoned" this gala ran and hid in the attic when the police arrived leaving their 18 y.o. son to deal with the police. They have since been charged with 34 counts of providing alcohol to minors and 16 counts of contributing to delinquency of minors under age 18.

Fortunately no parents were summoned to the morgue.
Perfect instincts, escape to the woods. I always leave my shoes on at parties.

+1. Never wear sandals to parties. Tennis shoes are much better for scaling fences and out running jellies.
