It's nice to know who the chauvanistic a-holes are on this forum and who the ones are that can find (and respect) a talented driver who might happen to have different equipment than they do.
It's no wonder why jealousy is one of the so-called "deadly sins". Some of you guys are so jealous it's pathetic.

Does she perhaps have more Indy car victories than the collective membership of this board?

A lot of talented young drivers enter the big series with teams that are on a race-to-race, shoestring budget. They fight and claw their way up the ladder, proving their mettle in less than stellar equipment. They finally "make it" and secure a ride with a big team with some money. Then they start qualifying well, placing well, and perhaps winning.
Not that many start out with top name teams, unless they come from one of the big name families or something. When they get to start in top drawer equipment, their results need to reflect that. Some actually do have talent and start doing well fairly quickly. Some linger on forever as also-rans, hanging on only because of the family name. Some wind up dropping out, trying some other racing venue, or whatever. Racing is a tough sport; you need to either win, or bring something else to the table for your sponsors. In the case of the "big name" kids, they bring that. It allows them to continue to drive and attract sponsors beyond where their talent would allow. Danica simply brings something else to the table. Granted, she has enough talent to run with the big dogs and not hurt herself. But let's not kid ourselves; that is most decidedly not what keeps her in the car. She has had fantastic equipment her whole career (pardon the pun). You guys are comparing her record to guys that had to work their way up into that equipment. To paraphrase how Rusty Wallace described Jeff Gordon almost 15 years ago "(s)he was born with a silver spoon up his (her) ass..."

How can some of you losers say anything negative about this?
She has accomplished more than you. I am happy for her.

Interesting take on that. The demographic of this board consists of educated professionals; engineers, doctors, lawyers, college professors, scientists, successful businessmen, etc. Folks that have made it in competetive, demanding careers. "Losers", one and all I guess. And Danica has accomplished so much more than these folks.

I'm happy she finally won one. Now let's see if she can continue to win.
As far as Higgy's silver spoon comment, I'd gladly help her remove it.

One of the drivers I mentioned in an earlier post is Alex Barron. Big money behind this young man and he never quite got the top tier equipment. I think he ran quite a few races with Eddie Cheever's Red Bull team. I think Cheever is a tight wad, so I don't think Barron got his chance. If he'd been born a girl, he might have been in the center of the podium before Danica. It works that way as Higgins says. |

Will she quit posing in bikinis now that she won one?
Hey, who gave this thread a single star?

What win?? It didn't look to me like she "out-drove" anyone. More like everyone else (crew chiefs) run outta fuel.
Either way she was in the drivers seat when the race ended. Good for her. My issue comes into her win becoming a gender wide claim to equality. Now every bleeding vagina on the planet hitches their wagon to her horse and claims how "equal" they are just 'cause one woman accomplished something out of the ordinary. If they were so capable of participating in a "mans sport" wouldn't there be more than one of them in the drivers seat? Wouldn't we be seeing sponsors peddling tampons and panty hose as opposed to trucks, tools, beer, and ED remedies? Personally I think she's more of an anomaly than a standard.

How many "educated professionals" on this board have won a major motor race?
None that I know of. Kevin Buckler used to post on rennlist years ago. None since then.

I'll share my deep personal thoughts on this matter later. Ricky Lake is on right now and I just can't miss a moment of it.
