The average westerner has more incommon with the cavemen then folks who live in a mud hut
allow me to explain Westerner, is a hunter gatherer, he goes out, hunts for money, then gathers crap he doesn't need...finds a vacant house(cave) and moves in, produces kid, doesn't raise it himself, because he's out of his cave, hunting and gathering... trying to find a bigger cave mudhut builder, is somebody who has settled down, built his own place, and tries to produce his own food, fixes his own house, raises his own kids... who can't be bothered with bull**** like spending time on the internet dealing with redneck ignoramuses who think they are god's gift to mankind, simply because they have a computer to type on, and were born in the right part of the world in terms of possibilities to thrive, and self develop and yet managed to self develop themselves in said ignoramuses.

Again - I never said that it their fate was our fault. What I've said is that they did not have the same opportunities that we've had. There is a big difference between those two concepts. Snowman -- what would you (or I) do in the following scenario: We are born into a tribe that lives in an extremely remote area of Irian Jaya. So remote, that the tribe's only contact with the 'outside' world are small skimishes with the neighboring tribes, and the sight of a huge airplane in the sky from time to time. Maybe a missionary would come through from time to time. Early on, we learn how to hunt and gather food, and make a family of our own. We'd live in wood and straw huts along the river. So - how would you deal with life then? Keep in mind, you would have very little knowledge of the outside world -- and if somone did happen across your tribe and show you some modern stuff like metal objects - how would you react? -Z-man.

Your question has been answered 7 ways to Sunday. Either you do not understand the answers or you want to keep this game going your comments or a product of someone with poor form and breeding. Don't fool yourself. You are really coming across as someone that is a 'step above a caveman'. And here I always thought Whites were better than that....

I'll play.
I'll address on two different levels though, and on a much more narrow focus. 1 Why can't Africa get it together and become something other than a mess? The place has a huge amount of natural advantages. Everything from tourism to natural resources. It really has all the advantages to be a peaceful prosperous place for people. How is it failing? 2 Does a substance farmer with 4 kids, scrapping by in some 3rd work, is he living the good life and thrilled, or is he in a most stressed position than me? My thoughts. Africa is a mess due to tribalism, and population pressure. I think they don't have the ability to get away from the Crab in the bucket syndrom to make Africa work on a globally successful scale. I think there is two ways to look at the substance farmer. There is a certain kind of freedom knowing you are screwed. At that point, all is lost, you might as well make the best of it. on the other hand, I think its demeaning to said farmer to pretend he isn't terrified of the problems he could face with so little change, and he has no control over that. one bad drought, and he is watching his children die of hunger. A cold, or infection, those aren't just run of the mill things, but actual life threatening events. You can of course say I'm not immune here in my life. My company loses my contract, I'm unemployed. Katrina showed we are not immune in this country from some really crappy things happening to us. But none of the people who died in Katrina died to starvation, and a few did die, but it was mostly due to sudden lose of medical care, and the related issues. I feel I'm overall safer, and better protected from a majority of the issues that can cause me, and the people I know here so much problems, than that hypothetical substance farmer. And I think that makes me happier than he is. |

Tribalisme for a part, but don't forget that the Colonials have done a good job at teaching them the concepts of "greed". I'm Belgian, one thing they don't teach here in schools, is how the Belgian Colonials pretty much plucked Rwanda and Congo clean, forcing them to convert with boatloads of missionaries, and then make them work for the benefit of said colonials... obvious answer then was "oh, but we brought them civilization" yeah right... Then after then became independent, you had the east block and the west block funding the tribes, supplying them with guns and ammo, so the precious resources wouldn't fall in the hands of "the others", all this , at the expense of the local population... Then there is the pope, now they are very religious over there, and the pope goes telling them, they should not use protection, because it's not Christian... more misery in the form of AIDS and what not... These people did not get a chance to progress according to their natural rythme, they had Western Civilisation thrust upon them, and the examples they got were not the good ones, they had a speed course in greed, oppression and everything in between, they have been messed around for hundreds of years, and they are be the target of ignorant criticism by a Westerner?? believe me , they would make small work of such critics if they ever had the balls to go over there to tell them... And i would not blame them one bit. Look at Nigeria, the most corrupt place on the face of the planet, poor population And Shell is pumping barrels every day.. When does Nigeria come into the news? right, when "rebels" have interrupted the oil flow... Nobody asks what happens with the money from the oil being pumped up, but i assure you the money is not used to upgrade the country to a better level.. Nobody cares about that, as long as the fuel stays under 2 bucks a Gallon. Nobody at Shell cares either, they'll make a deal with whoever is in charge, be that Kim Il Sung, Sadam, Kadaffi, or the gang of thugs who happened to have killed the previous thug...Oil companied don't care about anything other then Money in their own pocket.. pure and simple, If Rome had wells, and the Mob took over the Vatican, The oil companies wouldn't give it a second thought to make the deal with the mob and put up a drilling operation on the big st Peters Square...

We are many steps above cavemen. There is no doubt about it, Thats not the point as any one with an intellect above a caveman can tell. The point is WHY? Why do I keep repeating he basic question? Because everyone has sidestepped it so far and NO ONE has addressed it.

Are they living examples of our past? Are they the result of communism? Are they the result of liberalism? Are they simply the result of people that just don't give a damn?
I do not beleive that they are the result of their own choices. |
