Here's an interesting tidbit.

According to DOJ, there were just under 10,000 arrests for murder in 06.

Split pretty much 50-50 between black and white.

So the percentage of blacks arrested for murder is wildly out of proportion to their representation in the gen pop.

914,000 arrests of whites for DWI vs only 95,000 for blacks.

There are ~25,000 alcohol related vehicular deaths a year.

That's 2.5 x's the combined murder arrest rate.

So I deduce you have a dramatically higher probability of being killed by a white guy with a car than by a black guy with a gun.

You'll find they types of crimes vary among races.

Blacks will have a higher percentage of violence based crimes while whites will have a much higher rate of property and white collar crimes. I'm sure Ken Lays victims are OK with it since he did not use a gun.

Coupled with the fact that minorities get profiled, ie; cars searched at 3x's the rate of whites, your going to have a higher incident of arrests for that group.

Instead of "doing a Dottore" and lamely attempting to discredit the data, why not find some data to "really" disprove it. You can't.

I don't think anyone is saying that just having black skin predisposes you to anything. Of course it doesn't.

What I am saying is that either 1) the black culture in America does in fact encourage its young members to commit crimes OR 2) the black culture in America has a SERIOUS image issue.

Either one should be enough to cause the so called leaders in the black community to stand up and speak out. Some finally are, Bill Cosby being the most notable. Of course Cosby is now being called an Uncle Tom by many in his own community.

I just cannot understand why minority communities (most notably in America the black community and the hispanic community) go so far to estrange themselves from the rest of America? It has gotten to the point that I can often not even understand young black athletes or rappers. They seem to be speaking their own language of slurred, barely recognizable english. They wear their pants down past their buttcracks and have gold teeth and then wonder why people think twice before hiring them in a customer service position. It's almost like they are seeing how far they can estrange themselves while still claiming racial prejudice if things don't go their way.

Seems to me if you really wanted to improve the status and stature of your community in the country you would focus on making positive contributions, instead of rolling in bling bling hummers and shooting up strip clubs.

This tells me that blacks drive drunk at about the same rate as whites, but that they commit violent murders at a VASTLY more frequent rate relative to their population size.

BTW Stomachmonkey- Ken Lay's victims are all still alive. Lay was definitely a crook, but he wasn't a killer.

Having said that, I think if one could get data on crimes by race, but filtered by socio-economic conditions, one would find that the distribution of crime to each race would represent a "parity" ratio of blacks to whites, as monkey originally stated.

I have no doubt the govt can make statistics show that. But when millionaire rappers continue to live in projects to "keep it real," something is wrong. Personally I think the culture is broken. Apparently Bill Cosby does too. What's the answer for what's going on in these videos?

no doubt once the hoodlum crowd learns to walk upright and speak english they too will be given the chance to commit white collar crimes. as it is now when you wear your pants that low and talk like a moron you just aren't going to see a corner office unless it's the PD's.

that study is interesting. seems to say that white criminals are nuts and black criminals are violent (and apparently aren't gainfully employed per the workplace violence figures!).

you know kids in many ways are just reflections of what they see. black kids have an awful lot of bad role models out there and are taught from early on that it's all about 'money'. couple that with a piss poor education (lack of parent involvement, bad surroundings) and you end up with Rent-A-Center (aka Debtor's Prison Recruitment Center) customers for life who just make one bad decision after another. and it's not just a black thing to be sure. those of us who live in/near rural areas know full well the little baby in the back of a run down Neon driven by a 300lb white chick who is on her way to pick up a flat panel for the trailer doesn't have much of a chance either.

There's a lot of black people that also agree with the Cosby point of view, they're just not vocal about it. They're busy with a career, raising a family, and living their lives. It's the lazy jackasses like Sharpton and Jackson that work to perpetuate stereotypes and racism, because that's how they make their living. The last thing they want is equality and full integration into American society. They're some of the biggest racists you'll ever find, but they're allowed to spew their hate on prime time news.

I'm the first person to point out that popular black "culture" has some serious problems, but lets not go painting with too broad of a brush. I'm sure there's black people on here, but you wouldn't know it without meeting them in person. I.e., they're just like you and me.
