That wasn't the prettiest win in professional football history, but the Eagles will move along. I like their chances at shooting the moon.

Dropped interceptions are one of the biggest killers in NFL games, it amazes me it's not a tracked stat. Peterson and Westbrook both showed today that even if you shut down a star player for 99% of their plays they can still break your back in a flash. Eagles rookie WR DeSean Jackson also had a huge game, with about 200 total yards in punt returns and receptions. He is an extremely dangerous playmaker. Winning against the Giants in NY will be very tough, but it is certainly possible. Quote:
I guess that's why they play the games. Or as they say, "On any given sunday..." Last edited by m21sniper; 01-04-2009 at 07:17 PM.. |

I don't think the g-men can cover Westbrook, or the tight ends come next week. The 8 yard outs are pretty lethal too. The D..., well those balls won't be dropped next week.

Again and again, including in both games this year. To me, without Plaxico, the Giants are a totally different team. With no legitimate blue-chip deep threat to cash in on play action fakes their offense (or any run-first offense for that matter) is far less dangerous. In the first matchup this season Eagles DC Jim Johnson kept Burress doubled the whole game(he had no catches) but the eagles got eaten alive by the giants run game. In game 2, with no burress demanding a double coverage 2 deep safety look, the eagles were able to stack the line of scrimage and seriously impede the giants running game, holding the giants to 211 total yards. The Eagles won in the meadowlands a few weeks ago(that game was nowhere near as close as the final score, btw- it was a total Eagles domination) are 4-2 in their last 6 trips to the Meadowlands, and Reid has generally owned them for the most part in his 10 years here. Still, the Giants are a great running team and that's a hostile environment. It will be very hard for the Eagles to win there next sunday. Last edited by m21sniper; 01-04-2009 at 07:21 PM.. |

My bet is an 8 man front whips the g-men pretty good.
