When we first moved out here, we watched my sister's place in Loomis for a week, took care of her animals. My wife loved it, horse property in the country, that is where she wanted to live. She wanted a swimming pool. Have you ever had to take care of a swimming pool, or a farm?

Small place with a short commute made more sense to me. Less time in the car, quick to get downtown, small house with shade trees works out okay in the summer. If'n I get a hankerin' to swim, I have friends and family that have a pool. Pool is like a boat, best to have a friend with one.

Yep, I have a pool now. I wish I could go back in time and punch myself in the face for giving in on buying a house with a pool. Never, ever again.

I like that. Clean, tasteful and simple. What's the vanity made of?

Frankly, I could get onboard the before or after. Well done either way.

I live in Florida, so it's the law. You must have a pool. It would be fine, but every ten years you need to spend $7k to refinish it.

If'n you had asked me, I could have poked you in the eye or something when you brought up getting a pool.

I am glad you did not buy that place over near Garden Highway you were renting, I could see that place having 15' of water in it someday.

During the housing craze, that place peaked at around $300k...I looked near the bottom and it was just below $100k...that's a serious hit!

I didn't want the pool, never did, don't use it but as they say "happy wife, miserable pool"

The ball needed to go on a semi flatbed for transportation and as the pay loader approached the trailer it slowly elevated the ball. As the bucket travelled its arc, all the tension in the world transferred onto one chain link and when it tapped out, the ball fell about 6 ft through the wood floor of the flatbed sending the trailer about 3 ft into the air like a giant leaf spring and adult men scattering all over the place. It was a code brown moment.

No way in hell that was happening, so I took $300 and bought all the paint, primer, HVLP sprayer and paint shelter I needed. The doors drawers came out spectacular, the frames look fine however I rolled them instead of trying to spray indoors and that hurt the finish..oh well, I'm way ahead and have a happy wife.
Details? What sprayer, paint, and thinner/additives did you use?

One of the biggest financial mistakes I've made was to agree with installing a pool.
Now that the kids are grown up it doesn't get used that much, I put the cost at around $200 an hour.

If I could do it over I would have installed a really nice above-ground pool that would be easier to make go away.

I really, really tried to talk the wife out of a pool in our new house. There was a 0% chance I was going to put one in so letting someone else take the hit and buying a house with one already was a "compromise" I guess.

She has really good memories of having a pool when she was little...of course she doesn't remember the cleaning/maintenance/down sides since her parents dealt with that. I will say that in the past 4 years since we've been here, she and the boy do use it a lot and it made for a fun b-day party last year. Other than that, I never thought it would be worth it and I still don't.

Our house came with a pool and the maintenance has been pretty reasonable. I DIY most of it, but have a good guy for stuff above my skills. I don't think I ever want to be without a pool. The season here is from about mid-April to early Oct.
