Before...
![]() After ... ![]() This is my parent's place in Idaho. The car in question actually has some Pelican content -- it's a 78 BMW 318i that he's working on. He's partway through the conversion to fuel injection using the megasquirt system. Great stuff.

alright alright what the hell is wrong with dis picture vinman???? first we have the "before" pic of the uber zoomy ge-racen boot. and then we have the "after " pic of das boot ge-fuched fubar'ed beyond all words. what the hell gives here. as a long standing member of the u.s.c.g. aux(crewmember jes shy of coxswain) i demand an intelligent in depth analysis of this incredible devastation. my ideas that come to mind: 1) an exocet miss-kill nailed yer ass. 2) a rogue untersee-boot nailed you with a torpedo ("torpedos los") 3) sky lab fell on you 4) the freeking andrea doria was lurking off the east coast after being resurfaced 5) the real name of the boat is "PT-109" and the jap navy drilled ya 6)recent fiberglass repairs failed 7) the u.s.s. missouri fired a salvo at you from her main guns 8) latest greatest stealth tech u.s. navy ship based in san diego came for a visit 9) a reef was struck 10) a buoy was struck 11) a sandbar was struck 12) a whale was struck 13) another race boat hit a wave or wake and careened into you 14) poor design too big of a wave hit full speed 15) pilot error pick one and elaborate please for us inquiring minds |

I'd say it hit the very element it was meant to operate in. WATER!

Believe it or not, the boat was towed back in still floating. The crash was similar to what happened in the video below at 1:18. except the water was alot rougher.

Stuffing the bow is probably the leading C.O.D. in that sport.

Actually more racers get killed getting tossed out, when the boat spins or hooks. Most of the time its from a serious neck injury. We had 2 fellow racers killed this past summer out in a race on Long Island. The boat (a canopied cat) caught air and flipped. The canopy collapsed in and the force of the water rushing in killed them. The boat was doing about 120, when it went over.

well vinman , ive done some crazy poo in my life BUT THAT TAKES THE CAKE, knowing someone(you) that survived that brutality. wow thank god yer alive.
thats one for the grandkids. glad yer alright. im staring at a picture of stephen stills album "RIGHT BY YOU" that i have on my wall. has "SS" on the forward bow deck. really cool paint job, about 40 gazzillion HP mercs no doubt. stills used to offshore boat race quite abit years ago. your a brave man. i flipped an AVON after rescuing a kid in a summer monsoon storm here at bartlett lake. air got under bow and over she went! man i was glad i had my kill switch attached to my PFD. otherwise i would have been sliced diced minced and purreed! |
