To Snipers point, Fleury did steal the game for the Pens. But very interesting facts provided by Turbo. I'd counter with a goalie isn't the most important postion to draw fans but too the team, game, and ultimitely the win.

1. Dany Heatley $10.0 (7.0)
2. Alex Ovechkin $9.0 ($9,538)
__Sidney Crosby $9.0 ($8.7)
4. Timmo Timonem $8.0 ($6.333)
__Daniel Briere $8.0 ($6.5)
__Tomas Vanek $8.0 ($7.143)
__Jason Spezza $8.0 ($7.0)
__Scott Gomez $8.0 ($7.357)
9. Brad Richards $7.8 ($7.8)
10. Henrik Lundqvist $7.75 ($6.875)

Only one goalie in the top ten and he's not even the highest on his team. The market has spoken and it says, "Goalies are not the most important position".
It is more a supply and demand issue. There are only a handful of bona-fide superstars/scorers. There are a good number of great goalies.

But I tend to agree. And scorers attract fans. On the road and at home. Goalies only attract fans at home.

Fleury as stolen 2 games for Pitt so far.. 45 shots in the NHL is healthy number. Granted the number of pure high percentage shots in any given game is usually in the single digits, but no doubt Fleury has been the difference.

In regard to salaries--the hype and marketing will never focus on the goalie. The players that draw the fans are the OV's, and Crosbys etc. They are the draw that make the coin. That is not a surprise.

All those players will tell you if they don't have a top flight goalie--they will not win.

Folks are/were down on Osgood--but he is like Billy Smith of the Isles used to be--not a great athlete, not a great reg season guy--but come play-offs--very tough.

To further it : Price in Montreal has been ordinary--the only close game was one where Thomas was ordinary--same in Ducks vs. Sharks--Hiller for Ducks has been really good, the Sharks Nabokov has been simply Ok--the one game the Sharks won was when Hiller was good , but not great..
St Louis out vs VAN --Mason was tough, but Luongo was on fire. etc etc..

Who draws the most fans has NOTHING to do with who is the most important to victory.

Sheesh, isn't that much obvious?

But go ahead, keep arguing with the absolutely accepted conventional wisdom of virtually every hockey expert who has ever lived.

Me, i take their word for it.

Anyone else care to make their predictions (keep in mind I said the Bruins will take it days ago).

I called Vancouver/Boston, but I'm a Vancouver fan - in the absence of a decent Hawks team(they aren't really that good - yet!). You're probably correct. (:|>

A fly-half or field-goal kicker is more important than a goalie also.

Bruins/Pens is an epic battle for the east. Fleury stays hot with the Pens wining in 7.
Redwings/Vancouver with Vancouver upsetting the Wings in 6

Pens over the Canucks in 5
Hey... Why don't go out on a limb!

Well Lundquist has certainly kept the Rangers ahead of the Caps. Despite being outshot 149 to 99 the NYR lead 3-1. Caps are on the brink because of Lundy.

And because Ovechkin can't hit the net. (Hitting the post is not a shot on net). And because he thinks he should shoot 16 times per game.

true. as a college goalie I remember with great fondness those iron accessories. It must be very frustrating for a shooter to know he beat the keeper but missed by one inch
