I'm pulling for the Preds. I wonder if Murray will start?

The Pens earned game 7. The Sens gave a good fight. Once OT came around it is anyone's game.
I'm sure Murray will start (barring injury). This year the final is strength against strength. The Preds are strong on defense and Rinne has the ability to win the the whole thing for the team. He should have been arrested for larceny on Monday night after the game because he just STOLE the win from the Ducks.

Pens in 6.
It should be a really good finals. But I think the Pens experience and firepower will win out. Anyone else see the sign on the glass the other nite? Girls Dig A Big Pecca . To funny

Funny. I was just talking to one of my sales guys who was talking to one of our folks in Detroit. He was saying how Red Wing fans hate the Pens then seeing your comment. The Wings had a great run but the Pens ended it. End of story. I lived in Grand Rapids in the mid-80s. I liked the Wings still do. Great organization winning with class, skill, talent, & speed. Hmmm, sounds like the Pens.
Yeah the Pens got a good call, the right call also. The bigger gaff was the phantom call when Hornqvist tripped. And of course Neil taking a crap penalty. One of the reasons the Pens traded him. I can't call how many times he did the same thing playing for the Pens even being suspended for dirty play. Heck of a scorer but selfish.

It is more directed towards Crosby, and his lack of respect, some think stupidity, for not shaking hands when they won the cup here. For a game and City that pride themselves on tradition, coming up the hard way and doing things right, Pittsburgh that is, he really embarrassed them and the game in that moment. Something everyone here will never forget. Plus the cheap shots on Zetterberg.
Yes, the Neil penalty was a numbskull move. I'm getting old, my eyesight especially, there was not conclusive evidence to show me his skate was off the ice and therefore offsides, TV guys felt the same way initially. Hope this is a good series. Last edited by Bowling; 05-30-2017 at 06:44 AM.. Reason: Spelling |

Was it ever determined what happened with the lack of a handshake? I've never really heard a good, (or bad), reason.
From what I understand and I believe the TV folks said it, the suits have more angles than what is shown on the tube. I thought, from the angles that were available the goal would stand.

No on the handshake, he just ignored the tradition. Cherry takes a lot of crap here as well, the slight seemed to roll off his ugly suit too. People think Crosby gets a pass, is treated special and not held accountable, nobody denies he is a very good player though. Preds have surprised this playoffs.
Everyone here points to to tha 2013 playoff debacle with the Blackhawks as the the end of the Wings run, huge underdogs they built a 3 to 1 lead in the semifinals and blew it, not the Pens. Last edited by Bowling; 05-30-2017 at 07:24 AM.. |

I think people look for reasons to hate Crosby. The handshake thing, he explained it. Most Red Wings accepted his explanation. I'm sure most fans and a few players never will.

The goal being called back is one thing, I think its stupid a play can be reviewed after the other team touches it, but that is a different story.
What I can't stand is the no call on the interference behind the net on the PP that Malkin scored on by Crosby. |

Buck won't like this..... but he always gets away with stuff like that, my opinion of course. People in Detroit have not forgiven Crosby's disrespect re the no handshake. He crapped on the game and its traditions. Maybe he was young and an idiot, he purposefully made Lidstrom and others stand there and wait while he rubbed his victory on their ice in their face. He has never given an adequate explanation, other than he got carried away with celebrating. Never apologized, would have been easily forgiven being maybe not even 20 at the time, but he didn't and hasn't. I was there, his teammates finally started the handshake line. Heck, I'm getting P'O'd again just thinking about it, LOL. Not taking any of his talent away from him, he just reminds me of Ryan Leaf, hehe.

Last night's game was a bit of a weird one. Now we all realize the S.O.G. stat can be a bit misleading at times & in this case - irrelevant. No shots for the Pens in 37 min. after that aberration of a first period & yet they score a game total (discounting the empty-netter) 4 goals on 10 shots!! It brings home the adage, "they were ahead in the only stat that is meaningful". The review & subsequent overturning of the Subban goal seemed to have a negative effect on the Preds. Neal's monumentally stupid penalty certainly didn't help their cause. They appeared to get their mojo back & played much better for the rest of the game. If the Pens play as they did last evening, this series ain't gonna be long & the Preds will be the new champs.
Cheers JB

Make Bruins Great Again

The final this year reminds of the most recent election. We've got two groups:
1) Those that love the Pens. 2) Those that want anyone but the Pens to win. The Preds need to have a great game tonight or they will be looking up a very steep hill to climb. They swept the Blackhawks so they know it can be done but without Johansen it will be tough.

Are we sure the NHL refs aren't on strike and WWE refs have taken over? I am no Milbury fan but he certainly lit into the officials rightfully so. Hockey deserves better.
I'm not taking the broom from the closet just yet but when the Pens play like they did last night the S word may come up.

The refs called a much tighter game last night than they did on the Preds/Anaheim series.
I had no problem with the way they called the game. They didn't change the outcome.

Rinne has got to be better and the stupid penalties need to stop. Man last night was disappointing.

Rinne has steadily declined from Round 1 through 4. I don't see him suddenly jumping back to 0.930 save percentage to turn things around.
Preds defence has to be perfect Saturday, or it's over.
