Patrick Roy made the 'early goalie pull' a thing when it worked for him (once).

The statistical reality is that the probability of scoring two goals with the goalie pulled is almost zero. Two minutes, three minutes, whatever. It's a guess and a very very long shot....

I hope Bonino is well enough to play in about 10 days.

Game 5 will be the telltale of who will hoist the cup. If the big pekka plays like he has the last two games, the little pekka will not be on the cup again this year.
I agree, but if MM then steals game 6 in Nashville oh baby!

Which is why it was a sign that Sullivan knew they were sucking badly. After all, in the finals it doesn't matter if you lose by 2 or 20. It is still a loss. That said it has been done:

Joe's rant, (coming up shorty), will be epic. Heck I might even not even sign in to read it.
The Pens were the Pens. Pretty much end of story.
Let's see what happens Sunday evening.

From my perspective, this has been a bit of a strange series for every game has been virtually decided in the first period. Check that; how about the first 10 mins. In short, the games were pretty much over by then - no effective 'push-back' results for the opposition. I also feel most of us agree 'laffers' like last night's blow-out are boring affairs in any sport even if it's your favourite team. Maybe from a purist's point of view, there were some interesting moments in the game but by & large, not a classic for the ages. Sunday's tilt, given the seeming importance of the home field advantage scenario, should favour the Preds but in the end, big Pekka has to exorcise his demons in Pittsburgh. I believe his save %age is in the mid to high 700's in the away games & that boys, just ain't gonna cut it if the series goes 7. I have every reason to believe there will be a 7th contest but I am just hoping for a more exciting type of "back & forth" game - 'fire-wagon hockey' if you will. With that in mind, I hope all have the good sense not to mention the defence vis-à-vis championships thing. Till Sunday....

Cheers
JB

Can't disagree with you on any of what you've written. What I bolded reminds me of the double OT game seven between the Devils and Rangers in 1994. That sucker was epic even though it wasn't for the Cup.

That's funny, I thought you had blocked me.
I thought the replay of Saint Sidney sitting on top of Subban and banging his head onto the ice and then getting only a 2 minute "holding penalty" was pretty typical of the NHL protecting the golden one.

Buck will be in denial about it and say he deserved it. Doesn't matter if it was dangerous and could cause concussion or neck/spinal injury. After all, he didn't like that Subban had bad breath.

In the "good old days" this was just another day at the office but in today's NHL if someone did that to little pekka they'd get a 10 game suspension.

Rant? No. Outrage? Darn right.

The Preds sucked last night. End of story.

At this point my best hope is to see a game 7 even though the outcome would be a foregone conclusion.

No doubt that Sid should have had a more penalty time for that and no doubt in my mind that the referee should get his ass kicked for not intervening to help a player in a vulnerable position.
That ref was right there when Subban was getting his bucket rattled off the ice and did nothing.

Back in the 'Burgh

Both goalies were obviously lights out with the Press having to swallow a huge pill with their goal called back. Me thinks the refs tried paying them back with a couple questionable power plays.

Until next year Gents

Yup, the Goalie's really played well, but that (IMO) quick whistle really sucked hard!

Here's to the Cup!
