Looks like Marco Andretti is having a hissy fit over his incident on the first lap.

Used to love the the 500 as a kid. The different cars, the names. Is Bill France and Tony George related??
Spec racing sucks. Congrats to Penske & Castroneves though, class acts.

Great win...I wonder if the IRS folks thought the same?

I'll pick Helio, oh wait, the race is over. Oh well you could'nt bet against him. I was there and there were tons of empty seats. Turn 3, which used to be hard to get tickets looked like a ghost town. It was a very boring race. You get that when you have spec cars.

So, let me get this straight; Marco goes for an ill-advised outside pass on the first lap, then the inevitable happens, it's the other guys fault, but when Vitor Meira does the same thing 150 laps later and the inevitable happens, it's Meira's fault? Who says the Andretti (coff-whiners-coff) family doesn't have good luck at Indy - the announcers make sure that they are considered "Premier" race drivers in the eyes of the one-a-year-race watcher, thus continue to have high sponsorship value. Marco Andretti is one of the top drivers in the series because . . . ? He once won a race? when the team he was in was the Factory Honda team? He wore the stupidest driving uniform EVER - the one designed to look like the Khakis and Leather Jacket that Indiana Jones wears? He tries so hard that he crashes a good percentage of the races he enters, hence, he deserves our support?
(PS - I'm glad to see Helio win, but come on, there's no crying in racing) And what was with Barnhardt and the marshals trying to keep him from climbing the fence. Yeah, quash the only fun thing to happen during the whole race. I'm starting to see why the IRL is second rate.

I can't disagree with your comments, herr. And I'm pretty much a supporter of most racing. This was truly a poor image of what Indy can be.
One thing I have to make a comment on is Robin Miller's constant berating of Milka Duno. Unless I missed something, she finished 20th only 1 lap down. MG, that's a pretty good run, don't you think? I mean she had to keep her foot nailed for all of the green laps and miss the fools to be able to do that. I say good on her! |

In Meira's case, IIRC, he was on the outside, getting passed on the inside. He pinched down on the other car, striking his left front to the other's right rear (actually locking them a bit). Vitor turned in inappropriately. He had room to give. Regardless, congrats to Helio. I've been a fan of him since watching him win the IndyLights (or was it Toyota Atlantics) race in Long Beach. His last name used to be hyphenated, back then. The other guy I remember crying in Winner's Circle was Little Al. Nice to see how much the race means to them.

I saw that differently. Vitor had 2 choices and neither was good. Had he stayed off the inside car, he would have hit the wall. He took the line he needed to make the turn and it didn't work out. A late pass will do that. It was the inside car's fault.

Robin Miller's comments are spot on about Milka. She does not belong in this race or this series. Her only claim to fame was winning the Daytona 24 hrs, where she was the 5th driver on a 4 driver team. It's not very hard to keep clear of others in the Indy 500 track; put your foot down and guide the car around. (ps, I dont like Robin Miller either)

). She blew by her pit, she had to admit she F'ed up! Anyway, she did a good job. It's curious what has happened to Andretti/Green. They used to be a super power in Indy. Drivers maybe? I think Marco is going to go the lines of Earnhart Jr. He just doesn't have the talent.
