Some people are po'd that the iphone moisture sensors are Not deep in the phone, but rather right at the connectors. -tripped even without full dunk....just even surface moisture.
But at least the moisture sensors are therefore easy for the Apple techs to see. ... and void any warranty.

I bet just letting it dry works. It's always worked for my buddy, he's immersed several of them.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice. The phone is currently in a bag of rice. We will see what happens. My experience in the past has been that once dried out phones will work for a short while then corrosion seems to take its toll.
The i-phone as several have said is different because it cant be opened. Very hard to dry. She has not had the phone for very long. Would hate to see it condemned without a fight. I guess she can try everything suggested here then cry.

Good luck, I think the biggest problem is going to be the internal battery. It's not going to like having been wet and if the phone was on when it happened something probably shorted.

Seems to me to be obvious from this thread that the people at apple have made the iphone to maximize their ability to sell you a new one.
No changeable battery? No way to open it and drain it out? Moisture sensors? Not the kind of company i want to do business with. |

I wish everyone would drop their iphone in the toilet. Maybe they are great for everything else they do, but if you are on the receiving end, they have to be the most irritating, useless phone out there. I can always tell when I'm speaking with an iphone user. I can barely tell what they are saying, between the background noise, the echoing of my own voice, the static, and the hollow, tinny sound of their voice. They're horrible. I've reached the point where I will politely ask them to hang up and go find a real phone, a dedicated phone, so I can understand what they are saying.

Apple doesn't design the iPhone for the <1% who will drop their phone in the toilet, they design it for the >99% who won't.
The frustrating thing is that T doesn't offer insurance for the iPhone. Jeff, any issue with sound quality is as likely the network as the phone.

I bet way more than 1% drop their phone in a body of water of some sort. All it takes is having it fall out of a pocket into a puddle while you're running to your car. That can happen to anyone.
And i'm sure way more than 1% of them will have batteries go bad. It's obvious what apple designs the phone for is to make you buy a new one if either thing happens. No removable battery= no thanks. PS: With the GPS trackers in new phones plus no ability to remove the battery, there is no way to "take yourself off the grid" if you want to move about anonymously and still have your phone on you. Just sayin'.... |

This phone was a gift from her bf. He is a graphic designer and swears by the Apple products. I on the other hand have never known anything but PC so wouldn't change.
We will keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

I dropped mine over the weekend -- landed on the off switch and pushed it into a permanent off position. Apple store people said they could do nothing for me.
I researched and found a repair place about an hour from home and I'm caling them this morning and probably dropping it off later. Their repair videos are mcuh, much better than others I found on youtube. http://www.directfix.com/

I'm betting my $30.00 piece of crap probably doesn't, lol. Not that i'd care even if it does. If mine gets wet, $30.00 and i have a new one.
I shoulda bought the $50.00 one though. I like having the cheap-o digicamera built in. |

If you pull out the battery it's usually behind there. Little white circle. If it turns red that means it has been wet.
First thing that happens if you take your phone back to the store "Something's wrong with my phone, I want a replacement.!" The kid will pull the battery, see the red dot, and enormo-phone-co is off the hook. I found all these things out when I took my Nokia in the pool with me once!!!

There are two moisture sensors on the iPhone. One at the bottom of the headphone jack well and another at the bottom of the charging/synching port.

I didn't see a moisture sensor under my battery, just checked, but there's probably one in it somewhere. The phone is so cheap though it's not much of an issue in my case. |

Sniper, the sensors are usually just stickers that change color when with water.
exactly. The iphone is weird that the sensors are so close to the outside of the device. Most have them under a removable cover.
