Event is on Tuesday. On Monday, we just find out who won the lottery. I signed-up online for my 2 free tickets. Don't worry, I'm not going to this thing but w/ ~700k people vying for 7800 sets of tickets, they should be worth something on craigslist.
![]() EDIT: Make that 1.2 million people signed up for 8750 sets of tickets, as of right now. Wish me luck!

Someone told me this about LA decades ago and I did not understand. LA had over 12-14M people, tons of stuff to do, sport teams, etc..
Now when you go to NYC (similar to Madrid, Paris, London, etc), there a sense of city center. There is a sense that if something happens, everyone comes together. I was in NYC when they had 911 and the Northeast blackout and everyone helped each other. In NYC it does not matter what financial bracket you are in, you are all NY'rs.. In LA we are all seperate. Educated, versus, subculture. LA versus OC, White versus others, Bimmers versus SUVs. LA is a collection of neighborhoods. I use to like this as a kid, but not it just seems like a mess. Anyone agree with my analysis? Just my opinion, but now I live in OC for the schools, the beaches, and the clean roads...

Your first mistake is attempting to compare L.A. to other cities. It is not like other cities. It has its own identity, shape, feel, importance.
The Northridge Earthquake brought the City together, as did the L.A. Riots. L.A. is also destined to be the most environmentally big city on Earth. Whether that's a good thing or bad thing, YMMV. But it will still be a distinction other cities won't have.

I hope I'm wrong about Tuesday's events. Maybe the folks will all get along. I have a suspicion there will be trouble Tues night. LAPD needs to review MacArthur Park. Hope all goes well for David and the men in uniform. |

I predict a massive presence of LE acting very professionally and the whole event will be as peaceful as a baby lamb. MJ fans are not exactly like hard rock or hip-hop fans.

Sunday evening here in LaLaLand.
The police have started closing off streets and entire areas around the two venues already... for a Tuesday zoo. |

Is the "O"man going to make a guest appearance? This should be just the thing for him.

Tuesday sounds like an awfully good day to go down to San Diego, find a nice beachside coffee shop and take in a good book (I have a lot of reading I'm behind on).
I wouldn't go anywhere near L.A. if they paid me. I dislike crowds and people in general. Hell, I left town for the 4th of July fireworks - lots of people head to the beach right across the street from me to take them in over the Queen Mary (anyone else see the irony in celebrating our independence from Britain by using a British ship as a backdrop? Just sayin'...) Anyway, I had so little interest in going and being part of a crowd I literally left town and came back at about midnight. People annoy me. Stupid people GREATLY annoy me. Crowds tend to attract lots of stupid people. As such, I typically have VERY little interest in heading to any event where there will be large crowds. I still think I could make a ton of money selling a bunch of glittery gloves I make for $5 each for $50 a pop, or for selling zombie masks... If I didn't hate dealing with people so much I'd seriously do it just to capitalize on all the loonyness.

"There were no arrests, no traffic accidents, no uses of force by officers and nothing resembling a problem," said Assistant Police Chief Earl Paysinger.

Like everything else in CA, this was just an excuse to have a money-grab.

We were deployed to the area, but it was uneventful. That is unless you consider the unrelated robbery, pursuit, murder, barricaded suspect..........sorry, I cannot give additional info because it is an ongoing investigation.......

I feel exactly the same way. When I got stranded in Laughlin, NV for July 4th, I was lucky enough to have a hotel room with a good view of the firewoks so I didn't have to brave the crowds of unwashed masses. I do try to contain my agoraphobia for gun shows though and will get to one this weekend.

David, glad it was relatively uneventful. Way to go LA, thanks for not rioting.
