I know there is a difference between a guitar amps and stereo amps, but...
I have a Mono/Stereo Hi-Fi amplifier designed and built by my brother and the guy that designed the McIntosh tube amps. My brother, the amp guy, and one of the top speaker guys from Altec Lansing got together and made a very highly rated component stereo system in the 70's. They made an AM/FM Tuner, Preamp, 3 sizes of Amplifiers, speakers, and custom cabinet turntables. They also had a reel to reel tape deck that was an Ampex 1/2 in deck with custom heads. The components were called K-V. They also designed a very rugged little looping tape recorder that was used in aircraft until the late 90's, the common name for it was THE black box. The amp I have is the highest powered one they made, 360 watts mono/180 stereo, solid state (no tubes), and .001% distortion. The amp guy said the K-V amps made the McIntosh tube amps sound like Mc****. It looks like a huge heat sink. It is considered one of the cleanest amps ever made. I quit using it in the 80's when I went to surround sound. I only have one and with it driving the front left and right channels it way overpowered the center and rear amps and unbalanced the sound stage. |
The resistor should have the Ω after the number if it is the resistance. But it has been the 80's since I messed with that stuff. The resistors I used to pair with speakers to maintain an 4 ohm load with multiple speakers and post amp volume controls when I put in whole house audio run off of one amp were the size of your little finger. They were 8 ohm, but I don't remember how many watts they were supposed to handle.

That part is fine... It's 5000Ohm... Just wondering if it is rated for 5W. I thought it was.. Doubting myself now.

Kinda up late and early. Been just napping off and on tonite.

I was just informed that me and my truck have made plans tonight. It involves furniture and my back (still nursing that pulled muscle) oh and I get to do this for free. I am so glad I don't have a physical job to deal with beforehand and that gas is so cheep and that Peggy gets such good mileage.
There is an old expression, "you never know how many friends you have until you buy a truck" well round these parts it seems. I never knew how many friends my wife had until................... |
You are such a nice guy!!
