Morning Glen, G, Markus.

That Normoline thread is pretty raucous.

The scenery looks very much like around my parts, Pete. Still no frost here though, which is unusual at this time of year. Perhaps the global warming is finally reaching our parts. So far the last winters have been colder than usual.

I normally just ignore threads started by Normie. I had not even ventured into that one until I saw that Vas as taken a voluntary time out. I read through that mess and I remembered why I just ignore Nornie's threads.

I did not see anything in that thread that was directed at Vas. It must have been a PM he received.

I am like Rick, I can't possibly care less what other think, especially on-line folks on the other end of a keyboard.

I will miss Vas's posts. He has a lot of things figured out about how to be happy. Hopefully he will see that whatever was said to him to make him leave is 100% meaningless.

Morning Glen,

I'm only guessing that the Normoline thread was what upset Vas, or maybe that was the proverbial drop... Maybe because of Randy's replies, I really don't know.
I replied in that thread becuase of Normy's stupid REAL belgian comment. (French or Flemish can be somewhat of a sensitive topic here.)
And the locking horns comment was too good to pass up on.

I trust Vas will be back, he didn't sound too upset. And why would he stay away from the Stijn thread when he has issues with another thread?? Or was it something one of us said someplace else? Again, we have to guess.
He's a good guy, stand up and stuff, but maybe he could use a little more callus in the right places.
That will automatically develop after a while.

Cub scouts are a hearty bunch. Keep up the good work going camping with the little ones Pete, my scouting days, and the men that went with us made me who I am today. I went all the way to Eagle, here's hoping your kids do too!

yeah. you just need to go to the DMV and pick up a temporary tag. $10, i think. be prepared to wait in line. you may be able to get one online and print it.

clark at regent street auto builds race miatas and rents them. apparently, they are really really fast.

ah, the normoline thread. i read that when it was first posted and only had about four replies. generally, i don't read anything by normy, but it seemed safe because it was in OT area, not PARF. then it became clear that he had no idea what he was talking about (the first post) and i never checked back. things got pretty ugly, quick. normy seems incapable of posting something without it devolving into nastiness. i am sure this is in part due to his personality and largely due to the fact that he has pissed off just about everyone that has ever replied to him.

anyway. it is unfortunate that vas has left. i really enjoyed his perspective on things.

9dreizig, $2.50 for a 96 hour in-transit permit:

Utah Code

i was not able to find a way to get one online, so i think you will have to go to the DMV office and wait in line, etc.

Regarding what, as an example, happened to Vas - I think its absurd and sucks monumentally. I know all that drivel about freedom of speech and all that, and I am a big fan of it by principle, but if people canīt be civil and polite the door ought to be closed. Why should a lot of nice people have to put up with crap from a few individuals who apparently never learned even the most basic relationship rules. Why is the bully allowed to prevail.

OK. Rant over. Canīt help but to think its a crude, primitive world sometimes.

There. I feel better already. Thanks for listening.

You are correct sir.

That is why the old phrase from grade school makes so much sense. "Stick & stones my break my bones but words will never hurt me"

Words can hurt only if you let them. Just ignore the jerks of the world and never let what a jerk thinks bother you.

That thread got ugly real fast.. I'm pretty embarrassed that i was in the middle of it.
I had locked on to some minor detail and hacked away at it.. The O2 sensor/signature.

In that context it was bad, but in any other context i now see it would have been rude just the same.

I don't know about Normy's history on the board, or background outside the board, nor should it matter, i have not had a problem with him before , and as such i should have been more friendly in my post.

And to post in a thread with such ugly posts and personal attacks, and not stand up against it like Darisc or Vas did... Was bad form on my behalf too. That i only read and responded to reactions to my post, and pretty much ignored the rest until i read it just now.. Pretty lame of me.

Yes, it is my parents house where I live during the summer. It is the last house on the block and borders a wilderness area that links up with a State Park (Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu Creek State Park and the ocean) if you hike far enough).

There are even more types of birds and wildlife where I live during school here in San Luis Obispo. It is about 290 km away (to the northwest) and is about 20 km from the ocean so the climate is wetter. Because of its geological history and present activity there are mountains and canyons bordering a valley with volcanic peaks in the middle. The valley floor is sinking due to the fault action as the bordering mountains rise. The valley therefore forms a wetlands area that attracts a whole other set of birds such as redwing blackbirds and great blue herons. There is a nice place to ride a bike that is a canyon that follows a creek for a bit going through beautiful trees and then starts going up a steep hill once it crosses the fault. At the top you can see bluebirds (different from blue jays), hawks, kestrals, larks, goldfinches, etc.

I really love living where I do. Such a beautiful place.

You should visit some time. Dave should be able to give you the grand tour by airplane!

Thanks Sid! I'm hoping they get much further than I did. I was up to Webelos, then moved the year between 4'th and 5'th grade to a new school that had no scouting program. The leaderhip in this pack is very devoted, and we're not going anywhere.

This year has been a record turnout for scouts, recruiting is not one of our issues - 18 in my Wolves den alone.

You have my respect and admiration for attaining Eagle. Tip of the hat to you sir.
