My dad used to tell about a fishing trip where they promised to catch dinner. They didn't catch any fish so at the grocery store my dad's friend tossed the fish to him to put in the shopping cart so they could say they caught them.

My brother is a big time deer hunter. He uses a bow & arrow. His record was 18 in one year. All legal. The limit is one buck, one doe per day in possession.

huh, the laws there in oklahoma must be a lot more open than they are here. the limit here, unless i am VERY mistaken, is one buck, period. or doe, if you have the PROPER, and i mean specific, tag for a doe or hornless deer. this means that if you get a deer during the bow-hunt, you are done. no rifle or black powder hunt for you.

I wasn't going to argue the legalities with the sneaky son of a gun.

i've done that, too. only, after being skunked by the fish, i went and caught some pork ribs to cook.

back in the late 60's and early 70's, my dad kept us in meat by hunting deer. i was too young to remember it. to hear him tell it (the laws were much different back then, mind you) he would fill his buck tag, then fill his anterless tag, then fill one or two or sometimes five of his friends' tags that couldn't shoot or couldn't be bothered to stick with it until they shot something. by my uncles' accounts, my father was quite the hunter. and he can really really shoot, i've seen him in action. sadly, he never really took me out to hunt. frankly, yesterday, was one of the funnest days of my life, one that i will never forget. and i wasn't even carrying a firearm.

My brother is in Alabama. It is a long season and they still have a overpopulation of deer.

GH85Carrera 11-16-2011 01:22 PM

As I recall in Alabama the real limit is just one of each in possesion. It is OK to shoot one in the morning, haul it home or to the butcher and go back out and get another one that afternoon.

Night guys!

i have new jars in the works and i am giving yellow oysters one last try. i've had little (NONE!) success with the yellow oysters, so this is the last hurrah. i am trying out a new idea with them, yellow oysters, and will report the results.

i am torn between letting these guys get a little bigger and just eating them tonight with the braised elk and potatoes....

I'm trying to figure out what my folks are going to replace the M with.... I know they won't be happy driving anything in the price range they are looking at. I'm still not totally sure this is a sound idea....

Rick V 11-16-2011 03:07 PM

Did you call my friends?

porsche4life 11-16-2011 03:07 PM

Yes, Jim is hardset on an E30, and Eric has pictures, I haven't heard from him since I sent the picture link.
