Uh, Max... TG is pretty much a US thing...

But, they do celebrate a version as well, but it's in May of 2012.

OK, it seemed like Halloween spanned many borders so I thought TG would too. I guess now that I think about it, it is a uniquely US holiday. I never really thought about the pilgrims much. To me it was about family.

I skipped the AC/DC though I do like them.

I just wish they were available on iTunes. Whatever. There were only a couple songs I would have bought. I can make do with other bands.

Halloween was more a religious holiday way back when.. It morphed over the years to a kids thing that is celebrated pretty much all over.

Taken from Wiki...
Quote:
Thanksgiving in North America had originated from a mix of European and Native traditions.[1] Typically in Europe, festivals were held before and after the harvest cycles to give thanks for a good harvest, and to rejoice together after much hard work with the rest of the community.[1] At the time, Native Americans had also celebrated the end of a harvest season.[1] When Europeans first arrived to the Americas, they brought with them their own harvest festival traditions from Europe, celebrating their safe voyage, peace and good harvest.[1] Though the origins of the holiday in both Canada and the United States are similar, Americans do not typically celebrate the contributions made in Newfoundland, while Canadians do not celebrate the contributions made in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Not sure if that is a prod at me or not, so I will answer with my red face and all.

Pilgrims came to America. Winter was coming. Pilgrims on verge of starving and freezing. Natives came and brought food out of the kindness of their hearts. Natives showed Pilgrims how to farm the land. Next year Pilgrims doing well. Invite natives over for some chow. The first two thanksgivings (thanking God for being alive).

Then we started shooting indians and taking their land...

Now it is mainly about being with family and eating a huge meal with a Turkey as the main dish.

Gee, I have been missing out on the bio-warfare. I have to go check my stock of anthrax.

What songs? I have quite a few CDs, I could email them to you....

I'm not in love with AC/DC. I will listen to them on the radio, but they aren't a band I flip to...

I'm looking for some sort of road setup. I was looking at wheels, but finding 700c disc brake wheels is going to be pricey, and I'll need another cassette, and then I'll have to switch wheels.....

I think it will be cheaper and easier to watch CL and pickup a road bike.

Most of the ones they play on the radio I will listen to. I would say my favorites are Shoot to Thrill and You Shook Me All Night Long.

I will just go look for a CD. A greatest hits should do it. Thanks for the offer anyway.

I was given a nice rigid mountainbike frame by a friend but it takes disc brakes. He gave me the rear brake but I need a front fork and everything else, including the external bottom bracket.

Once I get a real job I should be able to build it up.
